Twits on Twitter

Group Dynamics

I think your being too hard on the twitter folks. In any large group you'll have a lot of people with strongly held opinions willing to share them ... again and again. Not everyone will defend their positions with facts and logic, or frame responses diplomatically. That's okay. What's important is that we are having the discussion and taking some action.

Case in point are the tea parties. Through MANY tweets they are organizing a large group for the April 15th rallies to demand less spending and lower taxes. Sure it could be accomplished a lot more efficiently but that's the trade-off with voluntary citizen activisim (hope that makes sense).

Three weeks ago I didn't know anything about twitter. Now I'm on there every day. I'm inspired to take more action like letters to congress and local papers, attending a campaign rally today (which I learned about on twitter), and looking forward to the 15th. We may have to wade through a lot of tweets but that's better than no discussion/action at all.
