Environmentalist Wackos Attack Los Angeles Zoo

Thanks For Your Report on LA City
Thanks for this report.
I just recently visited that zoo and saw the construction underway for the elephants. It is a shame that mess of a city council is making bad public policy and financial decisions based on noisy wackos. If the wackos had their way, all of the zoos would be closed and the animals would be out being poached in the wild without medical care or guaranteed food. Well, if they had their way there wouldn't be poachers, but the fact is that there ARE poachers.
Zoos have helped to raise environmental awareness that has helped legitimate and fruitful conservation efforts. There are people out there whose concern for elephants was spurred by their childhood visit to the zoo. Why take that away?
Rich celebs can afford to safari. Most of us can't.

You are so right, Ken, about the wackos!
If you are interested in being on the e-mail list for the Pachyderm Forest, drop them a line at:

GLAZA is offering to raise the money independantly to finish off the exhibit, to take the pressure off the City budget, so the issue is still alive and will be addressed in January at the regular committee that handles Zoo issues.
