Obama, Our Post-Modern Fuerher

JPK, your observations are deadly accurate, and I commend you for them. I'm an Australian, (with Conservative political views), and I'm studying Social Theory, Postmodern philosophy, these kinds of things. What you learn when you study German Marxist Critical Theory, and French Postmodern theory, is that the problems they complain about are of their own creation.

When Foucault declares war against narratives and says that "meaning is oppressive", or when Marcuse declares that man has become one-dimensional, they twist their bitterness into a doctrine that is swallowed up by a young generation who are all too eager to find excuses for their immorality and difficulties. The alternative- accepting the limitations of human nature and the need for individual hard work and effort- is too much to bear for people who have been taught to expect everything at no personal cost.

When people want excuses, they'll leave reality behind and start living in their imaginations- unfortunately, they forget what reality looks like after a while. And when we start believing, that's when the self-fulfilling prophecies start to occur, and Obama's problems become our reality under a Democratic administration.
