Sad Sack Soldier Myth Debunked

You call this journalism?

I came across this post and the one above while doing research for a school project - just had to comment on both...

Anyone can say "According to a comprehensive study... blah, blah.."

What study? It must have been published... Tell us how you got the information.

What if I posted.. according to a recent study by the american heart association, people tend to live longer if they 1000 mg of vitamin A every day.

Would you want to know where I got thet information, or would you be filling your trunk with cases of vitamin A?

Two words in your posts stand out - Journalism and Sources. You need to find out and inderstand the meaning of these words.

Oh and BTW, Carey was taken out of context for his remarks, and apologized, even though he didn't have to. Let it go already.

Talk about facts that matter

Why don't you talk about something that matters? How about the fact that the American were duped into believing that there were WMD in Iraq when there were in fact none at all? How is thousands of American soldiers dying on the basis of lies defending the American way of life? What part of American life was Saddam threating? I'll bet you are one of those people who say that anyone against the war is against the troops. You don't have the slightest idea. We will be in Iran before W is out of office - bet on it. I'll also bet that none of your sons have been needlessly killed over there. Who gives a rats behind what color our troops are - they are all Americans. You are riding on the wrong coattails lady...

Get your facts straight

Rangle never said anything negative about the education level of American soldiers. He introduced a bill to re-instate the draft. He quotes:

"I truly believe that those who make the decision and those who support the United States going into war would feel more readily the pain that's involved, the sacrifice that's involved, if they thought that the fighting force would include the affluent and those who historically have avoided this great responsibility,"

"Those who love this country have a patriotic obligation to defend this country," Rangel said. "For those who say the poor fight better, I say give the rich a chance." Read the rest at
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/07/rangel.draft/ if you want to even bother doing some real research. Doesn't sound like a rant to me - sounds like he proves your point - too bad he is a democrat huh? Since you are obviously trying to mislead people about his stance, I'm betting your off the mark on the others. Wethersbee is most likely a democrat also. The real reason behing this post is pretty transparent.

Charlie Rangel

Charlie Rangel said, and I guote: I want to make it abundantly clear: if there’s anyone who believes that these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No young, bright individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of educational benefits. And most all of them come from communities of very, very high unemployment. If a young fella has an option of having a decent career or joining the army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq.

“Our military is the most skilled, best-trained all-volunteer force on the planet,” said National Commander Paul A. Morin. “Like that recently espoused by Sen. John Kerry, Congressman Rangel’s view of our troops couldn’t be further from the truth and is possibly skewed by his political opposition to the war in Iraq.”

According to Rangel, “If a young fellow has an option of having a decent career, or joining the Army to fight in Iraq, you can bet your life that he would not be in Iraq. If there’s anyone who believes these youngsters want to fight, as the Pentagon and some generals have said, you can just forget about it. No bright young individual wants to fight just because of a bonus and just because of some educational benefits,” Rangel said.

I am not sure what you mean "who give a rats what color our troops are" what exactly are you talking about.....and I am curious.......have you actually read what Charlie Rangel said....or John Kerry...or any other leftist that asserts that our troops only serve because they have no other option?

And tell me what YOU think the real reason behind the post is? Since of course it is so "transparent " to you?

Did you read the reports? It is very obvious that you don't cqre about what the reports nor would you care if I told you my son died in Iraq.....

School Project

I find it odd that someone doing a school project would spell John Kerry's name CAREY---did you know I was a blonde, or just hoped that I was one?

Please.....if you are doing a school project, get the man's name correct. If not and you are wanting to make a point, be a man or woman, and just say what is on your mind. We are Americans----heroes across the ages have died for the right to say what your think......And if you just mispelled the name.....next time, get it right before correcting someone else!!! HINT: people might listen if they actually presume you know what you are talking about....Just a thought.
