Is Sarah Palin Paling?

Well Said

Well said Tara my friend. And don't forget what Fred Thompson said last night. She is probably the only candidtate who can field dress a moose. (Imagine what she could do to Michael Moore)

Tara

Great Post.
Sarah Palin is a real woman.

Tara Bricco

your post is as ridiculous as your politics.

Gee, I'm impressed - somewhere out there, a litle girl is saying "when I grow up, I want to learn to field-dress a moose". Then she can be "a real woman".

Sarah

Amy you are a standard liberal. if you can't argue a point make stupid remarks and launch personal attacks.

rob

Rob, I am not surprised by your response. It is difficult to take it seriously. If you want your response to have any kind of credibility, learn to punctuate and structure a sentence correctly.

Hello Amy!

We are who we are. I admire and relate to Governor Palin and you don't. Oh well.

I am like Governor Palin in many respects as far as my faith and the things I hold dear. Apparently you are not. I would not, nor will not say rude things to you even though you are different in your lifestyle and beliefs.

That is called tolerance. It is something for which we conservatives get little credit for yet we practice it diligently.

If you'd like to have a debate on the issues then bring it on and we can have a lively one which would be totally enjoyable to me. But we must stick to issues, not personal likes/dislikes.

Those are my guidelines. You takin'?

Have a nice day, Amy!

Thanks Rob and Conservabear!

Conservabear! What a great username! I love it!

I've been BIZZEE working on Rory's newsletter and building one for a club I'm in and working on 3 websites. POOPED! But I've got both newsletters built and circulating now. I can take a breather for a minute or two :)

I LOVED what Fred Thompson said 'bout Sarah that night, Rob! LOL LOVE that Fred!

Have you been watching Greta's interview with The First Dude? He's pretty neat, too.

A friend who worked at the county campaign headquarter was there Saturday and she says that people are PUMPED UP! At last, one of us is running. AND unapologetic about it! Yeah...we been waitin' a long time, no?

Going to go walk now. Time to STRETCH! Been sittin' TOO long!

Tara

I call it as I see it. Plain and simple. Nothing passive-agressive about my remarks. I have the right to express my opinion and my opinion is that Sarah Palin is a fraud and a liar. If I have to hear her lie one more time about "that bridge to nowhere, I told Congres, thanks, but no thanks", I will throwup. (She really needs to get some new material). You all know that is an outright lie. She was for the bridge when running for Governor; then she was against it, once elected. When it was politically correct to be for the bridge, she said yes. When it was politically incorrect and it looked like she was not going to get the funding, she said no. But she kept the money and used it for other purposes. You are blind if you cannot see that this was her intention all along. To get elected and to get earmarks. Although she denies asking for earmarks during her governorship of Alaska, that is also a lie. While in office, she has received more money in earmarks for Alaska per capita than in any other state in the U.S. Same thing happened while she was mayor. But she can field-dress a moose, so it doesn't matter if she is a fraud and a liar. It is difficult to remain on a pedestal as precarious as the one the Republican party has placed her on. I am not saying that Obama or Biden are completely honest and they won't get my vote because of that. But neither will Palin and McCain. To vote for someone just because she is a conservative woman (albeit, a dishonest one) is ludicrous. This is not a simple like or dislike. This is a real issue because as it's been said "she is a heartbeat away from the Presidency". Do you honestly think she can run this country? This is a woman who thinks "perhaps" we should go to war with Russia if needed. As I said before, ludicrous. Don't even get me started on McCain.

Tara

And why are you working on Rory's newsletter? He is the candidate - he should be doing it. I wonder how much of the information on his website was actually written by him. Who really has the smarts in that family? Maybe you should be running for office instead of Mr. Bricco. It's obvious you are the brains behind his campaign. You two have more in common with Palin and her blue-collar husband, than you think. Maybe that's why you like her so much. You can relate. You takin?

Have a nice day, Tara

The conservative movement

Needed the adrenaline shot...

Best shot

Amy, I have never claimed to be an English major. There are times when my sentence structure, grammer capitalization, and punctuation may be off. I am just an average Joe with an average job who loves his God, his family and his country. You seem to be a small minded miserable person who likes to make personal attacks. I pity you, and hope you can find relief for your misery.

rob

You just made a personal attack. I hope attacking me for stating my opinion relieves you of your misery. Who are you to insinuate that I do not love my God, my country and my family? My father served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea, so don't talk to me about love of country. That is exactly why I am fired up - because I love my country. Why is not okay to discuss Palin's dishonesty? I will tell you why - because conservatives want a republican in office and are willing to overlook the obvious. Why did McCain pick Palin over candidates much more qualified? It was a very politically savvy move - he did it to get votes, not because she was the best candidate to lead the American people. He did not put the American people first with that choice. Mitt Romney was a far better choice, Bobby Jindal was a better choice. Do you really think she can lead this country better than those two men? If McCain wins, we will all need to get down on our knees and pray every night for his good health. He said he would rather lose an election than lose a war. I promise you, if it is up to him, our grandsons will be fighting that war. What does it say about a man's character who would rather sacrifice our sons and grandsons than sacrifice his personal sense of honor? Ask a parent who has lost a child in Iraq if they would rather have that child back or help McCain keep his sense of honor. For a party that is pro-life, this type of thinking is totally contradictory. Just think about it. Sometimes, it takes more courage and humility to walk away from a fight that one started and knows, can't finish.

Hi Amy!

On Palin - as near as I understand it governors make requests for their states. They all need to and they all do it. Seems to me that they would have little to no control over how the legislative body deals with these requests. Having said that, I will say that governors likely think of earmarks differently - and should - than Congress does. It is also my understanding that although Palin initially gave the bridge the nod once an investigation in the details disclosed the pointlessness of the bridge she gave it the ax.

However, these are not the reason that I support the McCain-Palin ticket. My main reasons are moral reasons. I cannot support a ticket which will not defend the unborn, Amy. I cannot support a ticket which will continue the onslaught against the standards which once gave us a society which was lower in crime and which generated respect for its citizens and a knowledge and respect for right vs. wrong.

To be continued...

(hi Amy! continued)

The party which sponsors the Obama-Biden ticket is the same party which, while claiming to be the party of freedom-of-everything, is against the teaching of moral standards to this nation's young people in our schools. Without these standards we might as well be a bunch of animals. I believe what we see in our young people today is that they believe that they are the animals they are now taught that they are.

Why strive to be better, why strive to be finer and kinder, truer if you've been taught that you are a chance product of happenstance and that there is no creator to care? It is so much easier then to feel that you/your life has no worth. It is so much easier then to turn to crime and to lash out cruelly in your frustration over feeling that there is no real place in this world for you.

Yes, Amy, I am for prayer in schools and if the theory of evolution is to be taught in our classroom then I believe that creation science be taught too. Otherwise you have censorship and those 'free speech' people CLAIM to be against censorship. They CLAIM to be the party of the future for the children yet they condone the killing of innocent children who are not convenient. THEN they flip around and fight against the death penalty for those who are NOT innocent.

So, I am for the candidates who wish to protect the unborn, would not oppose prayer in schools and who are truly for freedom of speech and protection of the children. I'm not looking for perfection because I'm not going to find that in ANYONE so that is a moot point. What I AM looking for I can find in the McCain-Palin ticket but I find NONE of in the Obama-Biden ticket. It is elementary for me.

What issues are near and dear to your heart, Amy?

Newsletters an' Web Sites

Amy, Rory is the idea man and the content provider. I am very much into web design/graphic design. I have a very teeny bit of 'customers' I provide free services to at present so that I can develop my skills and build a portfolio. I designed his newsletter and I put it together for him once he submits his material to me.

Rory is one of the most masterful communicators I have ever known and my respect for him is at least as great as the respect that he shows to me and to his fellow humans.

I am also in the process of developing my own web site from which to launch my lil' business and I am quite excited about it. I just can't find the time to do my own because I'm always busy on everyone else's projects! :/

You think Obama is

qualified to run this country? Mr I will have my teleprompter at the debate. And yes maam if you attack, I will retaliate. I don't sit back and take personal attacks on me or my friends. Obama is the most dangerous man to seek office since Jimmy Carter. Dishonesty! Look at the lies and subterfuge on second amendment issues alone. Follow the bulk of the money and you find George Soros

You Are Right, Joe!

Adrenaline is just the right word! We sure did need it and we got it! :)

Rory was at Munford Celebrates yesterday and folks were standing 25 - 30 at a time around the Republican booth to get signs, bumper stickers, to register to vote - some of them for the first time. Some were life-long Democrats who said that they're planning to vote straight Republican ticket this time.

It's an exciting time.

You think Obama is

Rob, all the candidates lie - yes, even Palin and McCain. That's why, if I vote, I'm voting independent. As for personal attacks, your comments are full of personal attacks on the candidates you are not voting for or anyone who disagrees with you. Just go back and read. You can dish it out but you sure can't take it.

Tara

Enforcing your beliefs on others (not all children in our schools are christian - some are jewish, islamic, buddhists, etc.)is wrong. How would you like your children to be forced to pray to Allah or forced to hear that Jesus was not the messiah? Religion and prayer should be taught and practiced in the home and in church. Our constitution specifically states that church and state are to be separated.

One Nation Under God

Amy, if I sent my children to school in an Islamic nation then I would expect them to encounter praying to Allah. I would not expect to be coddled because I might believe differently. I certainly would not cry 'victim' because there are other cultures I do not fit into.

We are a nation which was founded for the express purpose of being able to freely worship God. We created a culture just as Islam has created one. And it is just as sacred to me as theirs is to them.

We need to be able to maintain our culture just as they maintain theirs whether there are others from other cultures living here or not.

I'm too tolerant to think that people should cry foul because they are reminded that there are those who are different to them in this life.

A Fallacy: Separation of Church & State

Show me where it specifically states that church and state are to be separated, Amy.

The truth is that it says that nowhere.

What it says is that our government cannot establish and state church which we force our citizens to belong to.

church and state

"What it says is that our government cannot establish and state church which we force our citizens to belong to. "

That is exactly my argument - you cannot force prayer in an organization like a public school. When you do, you are forcing a religious belief on everyone. We are a nation of many cultures and beliefs. That may be hard for you to accept, but that is the way it is. A true christian accepts and respects others for who they are and does not judge and try to force their beliefs. People came here for freedom to worship as they please and not have a forced religious doctrine in place. You state you are tolerant, yet in the same paragraph you insist that we "maintain our culture" and that you want to enforce your religious beliefs by allowing prayer in church. What you really mean is maintain your idea of what the culture of America should be. Maybe you haven't noticed, but we are a diverse nation. Being tolerant does not mean enforcing your religious beliefs on others. I said it before and I stand by it - prayer and worship belong in the home and church. It is very personal and sacred, and it has its place.

continued - church and state

"You state you are tolerant, yet in the same paragraph you insist that we "maintain our culture" and that you want to enforce your religious beliefs by allowing prayer in church" (oops, I meant, school)

I Knew What You Meant

I knew you meant school, Amy :) Yes, we are a nation of diverse peoples but these same people who make up our society came here knowing what this nation was built upon and what our standards and our culture have been.

If I went to their country I would still be free to worship in my heart as I wish just as they are free to here. Here they are free to state what they believe and build worship centers and form their own community around their faith, if that is what they wish.

Just because we are tolerant doesn't mean that we must give up our ways of life. Our forefathers died to give us these rights. The Ten Commandments hangs in the U.S. Capitol building. It is what our Constitution was built on and it is our way of life for it is what our very laws and customs were built on. Even if one doesn't believe in it that same individual reaps the benefits of it daily.

We are right to keep our culture just as those of diverse cultures within our nation keep their culture in their own countries.

What other nations do you feel are unfair for doing this?

I Knew What You Meant

"We are right to keep our culture just as those of diverse cultures within our nation keep their culture in their own countries. What other nations do you feel are unfair for doing this?"

I am not familiar with the constitution or rights of the people of other countries so I cannot answer that question. But I can tell you that our country is probably unique in its tolerance of other cultures - to a point. You know as well as I do, a lot of people in this country fear that if we continue to allow immigration, legal or illegal, American culture will soon disappear or simply be "bred" out through intermarriage. Each individual has a unique perspective of what defines "American Culture". Since there are so many ethnic groups in our nation, it is very difficult to define. Dwelling on how the face of our society is changing from what it was 200 years ago can lead to paranoia and bigotry. As long as we live in the past, we cannot move forward in a positive way. I just think we can do better. Our forefathers died to give EVERYONE rights, not only christians. What are "rights" anyway? I presume it means equal and fair treatment to all citizens of our country. I believe instead of prayer in schools, a "moment of silence" during homeroom would be better, so that everyone can use that moment as they please, whether it be prayer or just reflection.

Like you...(part 1)

Like you, I believe that America is her people. I have absolutely no problem with legal immigration because those people then become a part of us and they work with us as we forge ahead. I am not a 'traditions' person. Traditions must change - it is the nature of the beast - and they are really sentimental things for the most part. There are traditions I love but I am a realist and I am 'poetical' enough to realize that it is the very elusive nature of traditions which make them so dear in our memories.

However, as you rightly question, "What are rights?" We must have a standard to go by and our Constitution and Bill of Rights was built on Judeo-Christian standards. This standard is what elevates women. Do you realize that no other culture besides the Judeo-Christian culture gives rights to the woman? Any other type of culture which now does, i.e. Japan) only began to do so since they had the opportunity to observe our culture. If women were not elevated to the degree we would wish they had been in the past, it is not the fault of the standard but the fault of those who stumbled and fumbled with progressing in the attitude we should have had long ago.

Like you...(part 2)

While it is true that other Western countries were beginning to relent towards women's rights, it was THIS nation (thanks to a group of missionaries in Seneca, NY) which became the world leader in Women's Suffrage and the chains began to break free for women and for diverse cultures. It has had a domino effect all over the world. It is because we have learned through scripture that in Christ "There is neither Jew nor Greek,...neither slave nor free man,...neither male nor female, for you are all one."

Our values are good and freeing. I do not wish for our big 'melting pot' to melt to the point where we overlook communities of women forced to wear burkhas or where young, lovely daughters who would be vibrant citizens become victims of 'honor killings.' And I know that you do not either. God forbid that this should happen in this country, but it could if we do not guard what we've been made stewards of here: http://womensrightsworldwide.org/persaccounts.html

I do not agree with radicals such as Timothy McVay nor am I at all cheerful about knowing that there are 'Davidian-style' cults out there claiming to be Christian or conservative. This type of 'guarding' is not at all what I mean and it breaks my heart that this ilk casts such a horrible light on Christian conservatism.

In order to preserve the freedom of our culture, we must stand guard. What we have is worth standing for. I don't think I'd look good in a burkha ;)

christian conservatism

The only problem I have with chrisitan conservatism is their desire to enforce their beliefs on others. I am a chrisitian but I have no desire to force my beliefs on others. I respect people for who they are even if I don't agree. I may worry about the soul of an atheist and I will pray for them, but this is their country, too. If you have prayer in your home, you don't have to worry about your children not having prayer in school or being influenced by beliefs different than their own.

Palin is Paling

Did anyone see the interview between Couric and Palin last night? I am sure McCain is questioning his choice for VP. It is not her lack of experience that is going to cost McCain the election, it is her lack of knowledge. She was clearly stumped when asked about McCain's record in Congress regarding deregulation vs. regulation and what he has done to "reform". She was asked and she gave the answer that he is a "maverick". She was asked again to give specific examples of what he has done in his service of more than 25 years in the Senate, her answer "....I'll get back with you on that". She doesn't even know her own running mate's record in the Senate. People are losing confidence in her ability to step in just in case McCain dies in office. Talking about babies and family with world leaders and giving hugs and kisses on the cheek to these leaders may charm them but they are smart enough not to be fooled. Today, the polls indicate that 68% of republicans believe Obama is smarter than McCain and only 28% of Republicans beieve McCain is smarter. What is going on here? If Republicans truly believe in 'country first' they need to re-evaluate the true reason why they would vote for a ticket that is clearly not up to par in areas of knowledge and intelligence.

McCain is paling

Can you believe McCain's latest stunt? He wants to suspend his campaign and cancel the debate because of the economic crisis. What?? He can't handle more than one thing at a time? It is clearly a ploy to slow down the momentum that Obama has gained over the last 10 days. He is trying to get credit for the bill passing to bail out the thieves who robbed the American people, by blackmailing Congress, saying he will attend the debate only if the bill is passed. And to make things worse, Bush goes on TV to tell everyone that they stand to lose possibly their jobs, their savings, their retirement account, etc., if this bill is not passed. So let's scare the daylights out of everyone in order to get support for this bail-out. Emotional blackmail and manipulation at its worst. They got us in this crisis to begin with, now they want the American people to bail them out. These two must really think the American people are stupid. Now Bush has called Obama and McCain to Washington in an effort to show support to McCain's decision to suspend his campaign. It is so obvious and such a devious underhanded ploy.It makes me sick. McCain is panicked at his drop in the polls and he should be. But this latest deception and manipulation of the American voters is just horrible. It's bad enough he picked a VP on the basis of trying to win over the conservative base, not because he thought she could actually run the country in case he can't. To cancel a debate and use this crisis as an excuse is very disappointing. Ole Miss has spent over a year getting ready for this debate and spent over $5 million on this event. This is going to crush that small town's financial status if the debate is cancelled. If he cancels, he needs to send that town a check for $5 million. I was not sure who I was going to vote for - now I know for sure, I will not vote for McCain/Palin. I simply do not trust their motives.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - 1

I didn't see the interview with Couric so I cannot speak to that as of yet. I'm trying to get another site launched so I cannot spend the time I'd like watching campaign stuff right now. :( I'll try to catch up on it in a day or two, hopefully.

I can say that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were founded by a group of wealthy Democratic Congressional Representatives (including 2 of the top advisors for the Obama campaign) so that the proceeds could fund Democratic candidates' races, among other things they did with the funds. They specialized, as I'm sure you know, in mortgage loans to the poor.

Fannie & Freddy loans were considered, and rightly so, to be high risk loans so they were quickly sold to banks and other mortgage lending institutions who agreed to pay near top dollar amounts for them as they incorrectly assumed these loans to be government loans and thereby guaranteed by the government. Now those high risk loans are breaking these institutions because many of them are not getting paid off by the mortgagees and they have come to the government for reimbursement.

Now, I say all of that to say this - there have been 3 major whistle blowers in the midst of all of this since 2005 (Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve; Senator Richard Selby; and Senator John McCain) who have been trying to get regulations enacted in order to try to avert this crisis we now find ourselves in.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - 2

These regulations were introduced during the last days of the Republican controlled Senate Banking Committee. When it came up in its due time for vote before Congress, the Democrats had taken control of the House and it never even made it out of House committee. The Republicans on the committee voted unanimously for it to be allowed to the House floor for a vote and the Democrats voted unanimously against this. Nancy Pelosi shelved it and so it died. This, by the way, is the same tactic our present Tennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh uses to keep control of issues he doesn’t wish to change or have come to light.

John McCain played a significant role in the writing of these afore mentioned regulations and in trying to get them passed. In 2006 he again brought this to the floor for discussion in an attempt to revive the proposed regulations. He is an 'across the isle' team player of the highest caliber so it makes sense that he should be there to help push these bills through for a vote since THE HOUSE DEMOCRATS JUST REJECTED THEM AGAIN!!! It is customary that the sponsors and the drafters of bills work to pass them, sometimes editing again and again in the wee hours of night and morning to do so in time of crisis. It isn't something you can pass off.

John McCain has said that we, as Americans, should serve a greater interest than ourselves and I agree. If your campaign goes on hold to keep Wall Street from collapsing on Monday morning, then that is what you do. And if the banks start closing their doors, that is exactly what will happen...check your history books and you will see that I am right.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - 3

As I understand it, the money is not going to bail out the crooked institution which started all of this but will go to keep the bona fide lending institutions, who bought these loans, from collapsing. The government will buy these loans for, say, 10 cents on the dollar and will hold them til the market stabilizes and then resell the ones which are any good at all for probably around 30 – 40 cents on the dollar and then that money will pay back the loan by the tax payers. I’m sure that Fannie and Freddie should go under now that they are outed. It will be saddeningly interesting to see this play out.

For now fund raising SHOULD stop and campaigning SHOULD stop. It is not a time to posture before cheering crowds and ask for money – particularly by two of the men who should be ‘back at the office’ working while the rest of us sweat over trying to appease these deceptive investors who have defended these mortgages over and over, denied that these institutions were in trouble, and even now are fighting against passing legislation to stop them from continuing to practice in this manner. It is virtually de rigueur for John McCain as a sponsor and drafter to be present.

Well....looks like it post #2 twice...what th' heck?! Whatever... ;)

Fannie and Freddie

do you honestly think that our economy would collapse if McCain didn't put his campaign on hold? That is giving McCain a lot of power, more power than the President or Congress. To actually think that the future of our country depends on whether or not McCain intervenes or puts his campaign on hold, is naive, at best. McCain's record for deregulation over the past 26 years outweighs any effort he has made in regulation over the past couple of years. Anyone who knows McCain's history in the Senate, knows that he has been a champion for deregulation (except for Palin - she hasn't a clue) until recently. Talk about flip-flopping. What about one of McCain's campaign managers who is still receiving revenues from his dealings with Fannie Mae, as recent as last month? Did you miss that newsclip, too? Both parties are guilty - in particular crisis, it is truly bipartisan.

McCain is paling

Well, I guess McCain thinks he has Mississippi voters in his pocket. I do not understand why he cannot spare 90 minutes to talk to the American People about foreign policy and this economic mess. Both candidates owe it to their supporters to explain what is going on behind closed doors in Washington regarding this crisis. The people want to know. This will be a huge disappointment to both Democratic and Republican voters if he doesn't show up. He may lose the undecided vote. I sincerely hope voters do not fall for this stunt of his, that Washington cannot come to an agreement on the "crisis" unless he is actually physically there, that's it's ok to "reneg" on his committment to this debate. Oxford spent millions of dollars based on this committment. Surely he can multi-task - for goodness sakes, he's running for the highest office in the world. He is behavior becomes less presidential every day.

McCain redeemed himself

thank goodness McCain decided to go with the debate. The only smart move he's made all week.

I diasagree

I think John McCains decision to suspend his capaign demonstrates that he does indeed put America first. I find it rather inspiring to tell the truth. After I finished reading all your comments Amy, I do have to admit I do tend to lash out at liberals. I feel they are a danger to America. The America I served for 13 years in the United States Navy. Thirteen years in which I witnessed the horrible things people do to each other. I was in Beirut in the 80s. I have dealt with the people who would see America destroyed. When I first entered the Navy Jimmy Carter was President. Interest rates were at an all time high, ships sat pierside due to lack of money for fuel or repairs. Our military was a joke. I truly believe an Obama presidency would be even worse. So yes maam I tend to take it personally when I feel the America I became disabled serving is threatened. Especially from the inside.

I diasagree

My father served in the Navy for 26 years and retired as a Commander. My brother served six years in the Marine Corps from 2000 to 2006, and is now a Memphis Police Officer. My brother told me about how, while in the Marines and in Iraq, he had to deal with worn-out equipment, low wages, low morale and run-down barracks on base. I know all about wondering if a loved one is going to be alive at the end of the day and the sacrifices they make for our country. I don't classify myself as a liberal, I am more of a moderate. I feel extreme liberalism and extreme conservatism are equally dangerous to our country. I feel strongly, that McCain has used this recent economic crisis to boost his campaign and I don't trust him. He picked a VP that will not be able to run this country, just to win over the conservative base - that is not putting the American people first. I would have trusted him more if he had picked Mitt Romney or someone able to run this country. I do not want to be responsible for potentially putting Palin in office. She may be ready in 10 years or so, but not now.

Well

As a moderate you can't be an Obama supporter, because he has the most liberal voting record in the senate. He is proposing over 800 billion in new spending programs. Even tough he claims to support the recent second amendment decision of the Supreme Court, his past voting record says differently. I have killed deer with my AK47, which Obama said was not used for hunting and should be restricted or banned. All far left positions.

WELL

Why does anyone need an AK47? This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone using one to hunt deer. I am for gun control, not total ban of guns. What do you think of Palin? Do you honestly think she can run this country in case McCain can't? This week's debate will be interesting. Both candidates have talked about new programs and increasing taxes as well as cutting taxes. In light of the financial meltdown, neither one will be able to handle the economy the way they intend. Right now, neither candidate's plan is feasible. There is so much division within the Republican party that it could undo McCain's chances at winning. Republicans need to come together if they want their candidate elected.

Lost by a landslide
