Victory of one sort or another in Iraq while we have a sitting Republican President further damages the Democrat claim of being able to provide strong National Defense.
This is also the overriding reason for the Super Dupers to back Obama. He WILL pull out of Iraq while the "Blame Bush" iron is still HOT! Should things go horribly wrong after the withdrawl (and they will) the Dem leadership(?) can then blame the "inexperienced" Obama. Talk about a 'win/win'.

The idea of McCain actually winning when the Dem party is so heavily invested in defeat frightens them to be sure but moreso, his choice for VP is frightening them more. A young man with REAL experience and leadership skills could keep the Dems out of the White House for years to come. AND if a Dem Congress is seen to have attempted to sabotage the successful war effort all the Democrat gains of the last couple of elections could be lost overnight.

Nope. They need Obama to be their standard bearer. If he loses your hypothesis is correct, they will TRY to paint 'everyone else' as racist.
But they had better tread lightly there as well, because it will be many of their own who send the boy wonder packing. Too many Dems voting for the Republican and, it will look like McCain has been handed a mandate. Then where will the Dem Congress stand on blocking SCOTUS appointments, war funding, etc.?

I believe in their haste to be rid of the Clintons influence, the Dems have painted themselves into a corner. And all for Ted Kennedy's determination that even after his death the Kennedy power bloc would continue to rule the party.

"Victory of one sort or another?" We've had every kind of military victory that is possible to have. We toppled the Government, captured the previous despot, established a new legitimate elected Government, who in turn tried and executed the ousted dictator, militarily obliterated the insurgency that was made up of the very extreme radicals we sought to persue, and still no recognition of victory.

There is truly nothing left to "win". The only thing that can be done is continue to stabilize the existing legitimate government, and reduce troop levels gradually. Dems will take credit for their role in pressuring troop withdrawls, and the Press won't question it.

You are right about Dems painting themselves into a corner, that's why the only way out is - McCain, their Great White Hope.

McCain is a win-win for the Democrats, and it cannot be allowed to happen!
They get all their social policies, and a boogie man Republican to boot.

Although you nearly turned me off at the beginning for your article:

There is not a single Dem in Congress that will tell us they want to win in the war on terrorism.

They hate the US that much.

Take a look at Manila, Mexico City, parts of Berlin or Paris or Merry Olde England and you will find third world Islamo-Facists preaching hate from their mosqaues and steet corners.

Take a good look at San Francisco or Oakland or PHilly or Baltimore and you see something that will morph into third world. Detroit is already in the latrine.

Liberals will pay for this to happen with your tax money.

IF Obama wins the claim of 'whitey keeping the brother down' goes out the window & a multi-million dollaar industry built around 'white-guilt' goes with it.
Barry may be the candidate for all the reasons you mentioned, and a few more to boot. But none is larger than keeping Jesse, Al, Jerry Wright and the rest of the race-baiters rollin' in the dough.
They will do everything possible behind the scenes to be able to claim this is more of 'whitey's doing'...Barak cannot win because of it.
But if nothing else, 'whitey' has gotten a peek at the skeleton of racism in the darkened closet of black America. That there seems to be so much meat still on the bones doesn't bode well for race relations in this country, but Jackson & Sharpton wouldn't have it any other way.

And don't let the media or anybody else tell you its "reverse-racism"...there is no such animal.

They are in it to win it...the Jesse Jacksons & Al Sharptons and all of the race-baiters...they are thinking R-E-P-A-R-A-T-I-O-N-S!!! The surest way to get rich quick!! It is the deal breaker. No reparations no win for Barry and 'whitey' once again takes the racist title home but the industry of Racism flourishes.

And IT has to get done before Amnesty Bill or the money won't be there (like it is now anyway) and the Dems will stand to lose an equal number of black voters as they gain in Spanish voters?

If bad news about Obama starts outplaying smears against McCain...BHO is toast. Its one thing to have Big Media as an ally but when they turn on you look out (just ask the Clintons how it works).

So it comes down to two factions, the Kennedy Wing (and Teddy wants Reparations as HIS legacy) backed up by Big Media or the Clinton Wing
which for the time being is getting treated like they're Republicans
