Heroic Israeli security wards off somali pirate attack!!

U know it!

evil must be confronted and defeated. To do nothing is defeat. Many will critizise arming ships but I beg to differ-we armed stagecoaches in the old wast did we not?? the same situation is here--it is just on the high seas---good post SK.

Re Israeli security vs pirates

You are right! paying ransom and covering our eyes only feeds these thugs. When you need real work done hire the Israeli's!!

why is it

that the people who act in the right manner get accused of being wrong time and time again? When these shipping tycoons give money to these pirates, they might as well ring the dinner bell each time they go anywhere near Somalia. Maybe perhaps they should go "here boy, here boy" just to make sure they come. If they know they're going to either die or meet heavy resistance, these teenagers will stop raiding boats. That's about as easy as 1, 2, C.

on target-SK

as usual!! some learn from hard knocks--and others??well you see. Got to hand it to the Israelis they do not mess around. I am a US Navy vet myself let freedom ring!!

Let FREEDOM RING!!!

Is right!! If nothing is done then these THUGS think they can get away with this--well the US Navy and now the Israeli security have shown that we must stand up!! God Bless em. (and by the way SK you made the Wall Street Journal!!!!)

snow knight

Israeli leaders are probably faster at making up their minds than our current "leader." Glad the US navy and Israeli forces are taking action.

Shadow95

welcome again! you are going to be a regylar visitor! Yeah--it does indeed appear we have the old west--out at sea! I am glad the Israelis were riding shotgun!!

Jess

I donno. It truly makes you wonder --very much.

C-bow

Thank you for your service! you are a fellow hero in MY book brother!

W-dawg

DUDE!Yeah I saw that the wsj linked my post--Great!!they included it with other stories.

Eric

I just read where a S Korean helicoper helped out a N Korean vessal that was targeted by piriates--there is hope yet!

Keelhauling

You want to end piracy? Keelhauling! I'll bet if we start keelhauling these guys, they'll loose the stomach (back, sides, face) to be a pirate.

Snow Knight

“No one should live in fear and no nation should be afraid to do commerce.”
***********
A profound statement, Snow Knight.

Leftist/liberals want us to ‘live in fear’ such that the nasty (and evil, IMHO) agendas can be fulfilled. Most folks are paralyzed when they are in a state of “fear.”

One thing I can say about most Conservative, we do not operate in the “fear zone” and that is what is giving our own version of the ‘pirates’ fits these days.

Jim

Hey--but they do that in congress do they not? with our values we all hold dear!!

Mrs Al

I could not have said it better myself!! RIGHT ON!

Watch Dawg

100% full agreement Bro! The excellant points you pointed out were excactly the ones I have been tring to point out to ole caday here for some time. Sadly, he just goes back to positions that were already refuted.

caday

My Biblical position is still the same even before Watch Dawg stepped in. You are still playing ring around the rosy with the "palistinian" position. What about God's word position? You will continue to do this no matter what anyone says--even God's word.

caday

you asked a question and I answered. (SK I hope you do not mind I answered ) I also pointed out to you the answer to the whole middle east conflict. You seem to think that it is all about the land--not so. It is all about Jesus his kingdom and the ultimite truth of his triumph. Why are you running from this??

Snow

What you fail to acknowledge is that fundamentalist Christians, and I emphasize that group because it is fundamentalist Christians who believe that the Bible is God breathed and therefore inerrant, who see the Bible saying something completely different that what you are saying. And either you must recognize that this is a debatable issue within the Christian Church or pronounce those who have a different eschatological view than yours as non-Christians.

For example, the following quote comes from such Christians:

"The entitlement of any one ethnic or religious group to territory in the Middle East called the "Holy Land" cannot be supported by Scripture. In fact, the land promises specific to Israel in the Old Testament were fulfilled under Joshua.34 The New Testament speaks clearly and prophetically about the destruction of the second temple in A.D. 70.35 No New Testament writer foresees a regathering of ethnic Israel in the land, as did the prophets of the Old Testament after the destruction of the first temple in 586 B.C.36 Moreover, the land promises of the Old Covenant are consistently and deliberately expanded in the New Testament to show the universal dominion of Jesus"

"Lamentably, bad Christian theology is today attributing to secular Israel a divine mandate to conquer and hold Palestine, with the consequence that the Palestinian people are marginalized and regarded as virtual "Canaanites."39 This doctrine is both contrary to the teaching of the New Testament and a violation of the Gospel mandate.40 In addition, this theology puts those Christians who are urging the violent seizure and occupation of Palestinian land in moral jeopardy of their own bloodguiltiness."

See Snow, fellow Christians see the Bible as teaching something different than what you believe. You can pretend that your position alone depends on God's Will but in reality it doesn't.

And, why not address what the above quotes address?

Snow

BTW, the quotes I provided come from the website below:

http://www.ifamericansonlyknew.com/cur_sit/wdoor.html

WatchDawg,

If someone is following another King than Jesus in repossessing the land, what have they gained in addition to their future judgment?

Nice Propaganda Site Curt

Wow, so since that Anti-Semitic site says it, it must be true huh?
I can always count on you to be fair and balanced, right?
So you and anarchist and have a warped perspective and are against anything good wholesome, capitalistic and wholesome. So you despise personal freedom and liberty and think that people and inherently stupid and should have their lives run by the state. So why shouldn't we trust an anti-Semitic site that you brought here....

Jim

When you want to engage in the details and logic, rather meaningless emotional reactions, let me know. I will be glad to discuss the scriptures and issues with you.

caday

You can parade your "fellow christians"around till the cows come home for all I care-That does not change what was given by an everlasting covenant. -----caday-who named the land "palistine" was it God or man?

Snow

Again, there is an intramural debate withing the Christian Church regarding what the everlasting covenant meant. And, considering what Paul said about each part of the Church needing the other, I don't think it is scriptural to write off fellow Christians simply because they have views that we either disagree with or never thought of in the first place.

caday

first of all you did not answer my question. second you can "debate" everlasting" covenant till forever and it will mean the same thing--everlasting covenant.

Snow

And who named our land America? Does the answer imply that our treatment of the Indians just? Does the fact that man renamed the land Palestine imply that the Israeli gov't can murder, steal from and abuse people who are made in the image of God

Snow

BTW, what I cited from others are comments on what the whole Bible says about the everlasting covenant. Included in the everlasting covenant is the sign of circumcision, which is fine in the OT but cuts you off from the grace of Christ in the NT.

caday-caday

America was niether named OR given by God to the Indians-also-you brought up circumcision...again.Why? What has that got to do with the fact that God is gaithering his people thru Christ again to their own land?

and..

BTW the quotes you gave do not tell the whole story---Rev 14 is not here.......yet.

Watch dawg

Hey Bro---Noo problem. You are welcome here to give it your all!!

Snow

Nowhere in the NT does it say God will gather his people through Christ into any particular land, let alone in Israel-Palestine. And nowhere in the NT, are we called on to fight worldly battles in the name of Christ. Our weapons are spiritual and we are fighting spiritual battles.

Re Heroic Isreal

You are SO RIGHT! It is amazing that one little country smack in the midst of the hell hole of Arab states is holding back the tide of Islamo expansion. When you need something hard done and done RIGHGT! call for the Isrealies!! May God continue to protect them!

Kevin

That is hardly Israel's situation. However, they are persecuting secular and even Christian Palestinians.

caday

What Kevin said is excactly the situation. I know these things are deep for you,but hopefully you will understand....in time. Do not take this at a swipe at your intellect-I respest your opinions even though I disagree with most of them.

Kevin

You said it!! Israel has practacally stood alone agenst opression of the worse kind. I have deep respect for the pope and his visit--but the idea of a "two-state" solution is a pipe dream.

puzzled

I thought commercial vessels couldn't be armed? Glad they were however! Kill the pirates!

Snow

We simply disagree. There is no proactive Muslim mob trying to conquer the world. There is a reactive one that grows with each western, including Israeli, incursion. The Palestinians, whom Israel is attacking, are not a monolithic group. And testimony from activists there tell us the majority want to live their own lives in peace. But when you have been under siege since '67 along with half of your land being taken, there is a reaction. The first reaction, intifada, was a secular one and during that time, Israel supported Hamas. Now the reaction is more religiously based but even with that, there is an agreement amongst the major players, including Hamas and Hezbollah, fully recognize Israel if they return to the '67 borders. And until Israel accepts that, which would then make Israel compliant with international law and a host of UN resolutions, it would be impossible to prove Kevin's assertion. In the meantime, we have plenty of documentation pointing the other way.

that was one of the best

"made my day" stories. When will we learn that the only negotiations that evil people understand is serious, lethal force?

Curt

You demonstrate the problem quite well. People are good or evil and why doesn't matter. We were viciously and unfairly attacked on 9-11. But the attackers had a legitimate reason fro being mad though not a legitimate reason to attack. That is our policies are responsible for the deaths of many more civilians than who died on 9-11. So who is good and who is evil?

And if you remember, terrorists have served as Prime Ministers of Israel. We also used terrorists to temporarily remove the Sandinistas from power. We used bio and chem weapons on civilian targets in Cuba. We keep a person who has bombed civilian airlines in our country from being extradited. So again, who is good and who is evil?

In Luke 18, Jesus tells the parable of the two men praying and it is the Pharisee, the one who claimed to be good and declared the tax collector to be evil who was rejected by God. So who is good and who is evil?

Dave and Curt

Thanks for coming by!--totally agree. In the early 1800"s Jefferson taught the same lesson to the bibery pirites--too bad some are slow to learn!!!

WRONG! again caday

Neither America or its policies caused 9/11. It was hate-filled madness of those who chose to attack. The ones who carried out the attacks of 9/11 hate us just like thay hate Israel--because we are free. I know this is simple--but you will understand in time.

SK

excellant point!! When the bribery pirates wanted Jefferson to build them a ship--that was one of the bad straws!!What Stephen Dectuter did was truly Heroic.

Snow I

You have to ask, why do they hate us? Do they hate us because of our freedoms? That is did they attack NYC because people can choose between rooting for the Mets or the Yankees or between the Jets or the Giants? Or do they hate us because we can choose between eating a hamburger or fried chicken or even a burrito? Doesn't it sound absurd that someone would commit suicide, 19 of them to be exact, because we have such choices?

Or did 19 commit suicide because they were so enraged with the suffering our policies caused in the Arab and Muslim world?

If our policies did not cause major suffering in the world, then I would agree with you. But our policies have caused such suffering and massive deaths and that is the real point, isn't it. The real question isn't why they attacked us, it is whether our policies have caused massive suffering and death. Bin Laden answers this later question affirmatively. He stated that just as the US did not care about the civilian casualties its policies have created in Palestine and Iraq, then neither will he care about the civilian casualties his terrorism will create. Robert Fisk, who interviewed him if memory serves, cited the 3 reasons why Bin Laden attacked us. The reasons were our unbalanced support for Israel which enables their brutal occupation against the Palestinians, our sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of children in Iraq, and our military presence in their Holy Land of Saudi Arabia. Jason Burke, whose book on Al-Qaeda was lauded by former CIA agent, Michael Scheuer, cited policy reasons for why Bin Laden and other terrorists hate us. And the trouble for us is that we cannot deny the truth of their accusations.

Snow II

Certainly the attacks were atrocities and unjustified but that is a different issue than determining if their anger toward us is justifiable. And history shows that many of our policies have caused massive suffering. Perhaps it's time for America to join the tax collector in praying for mercy because of sin.

Snow re Jefferson

BTW, we might want to apply Jefferson's quote to our American empire. Otherwise, we will only look into a magic mirror when attempting to see how good we look.

The question America must ask is is it too afraid to acknowledge its own sin?

Once Again Curt

If you hate America and the american way of life so much. And are so compelled to love Muslims and the Muslim way of life. Why don't you move to Iran? I'm sure they won't behead you (at least not until they've had you make some propagands videos, then you'll really become a real propaganda video). I'll pay for a one-way ticket for you, you can bring Ivan. I'll buy!!

Jim

Why say I hate America? Is it because I point out some of America's sins? Then what else should we conclude? That to love someone or a group, you can't point out their sins or faults? That would make you a good enabler in a family that has an alcoholic.

Second, I am a fundamentalist Christian. I disagree with Islam but I have a great deal of respect for some of the Muslims I know--just like I have a great deal of respect for some Christians I know and some Americans I know.

Third, it isn't patriotic for America to stand in front of Disney's Magic mirror asking who is the fairest country of the land. But not only that, who cares about patriotism anyway. It is nothing more than another groupism. Patriotism asks me to care more about Americans because of national identity than about people in general who are made in the image of God. Bobby Seale, cofounder of the Black Panthers, correctly said that nationalism is akin to superiority which is akin to racism. Albert Einstein despised nationalism. But despite their disdain for nationalism, neither one wants or wanted to see the destruction of their respective countries.

You seem to be exercising boolean logic in a world filled with continuous values. There are more options open to us than to love or hate. And there are far more important entities to love than one's country.

Finally, I don't wish my country harm. In fact, by pointing out our country's sins, I am helping our country far more than any flag waving self-described patriot can. That is because I am giving my country an opportunity to improve.

Curt

Who are you to judge our countries sins? Are you any better a judge of our countries sins then I am a judge of yours? Maybe if you wern't so quick to convict our country you might actually gain a broader understanding of all things.
But who am I kidding, you'll be on someone elses blog telling them how evil the US is and that we killed half a million Iraqi children. I'm sure I waste my time on you....

Jim

America is made up of individuals who are encouraged to think for themselves. And we have international law as well as the Bible. So I simply compare and then speak my mind. Can you find any act that is more American than that?

Yes I Can Curt

Defend the this great country that bore you first. There is nothing more American then that!

You should have shame. You keep talking about how America killed those children, well Saddam, the French, and the Russians were getting rich and partying from them dying and I haven't heard you say a word about that. That's a problem with your patiotism in my book.

Jim

Again, thinking for yourself and being an individual is at the heart of what it means to be an American. To blindly follow a group something that people who accept totalitarian rule.

Likewise, equating those who criticize one's country with being an enemy is what totalitarian states like Cuba does.

So you can do anything you want, realize with whom you relate the most.

caday

You are so quick to judge America and Israel. You put yourself in a position of looking down at people--The very thing you accuse America of doing. America and Americans do not think of themselves as better than other people--we think of ourselves as FREE. You claim to be a fundamentalist Christian so what gives you the right to judge anothers servant(Romans 14)???

you are right Jim

It is one thing for caday to "point out" this countrys "sins" and totally overlook the good this country has done--espcially the help we provided to eathquake victims(Israel helped to may I add)America is NOT looking into a Disny looking glass---as a matter of fact there are many in this country confessing sin and turning back to God--it is called church.

Snow

I have not passed any judgment on you. What I have done is simply list what is historically verifiable regarding the US and Israel. That is no judgment and it seems that our country could do better if we, the people, were not so distracted from learning history.

If history judges America, then our future is limited.

Snow

Did you know that Cuba has provided a tremendous amount of medical help to earthquake victims in different countries?

But let me ask you this, does the good our country do give us a pass to break international law, overthrow gov'ts, kill people, etc?

caday

you have jumped on everything from the Indians to Iraq. There is a very big differance in pointing out (in Christian way)wrongs that need to be corrected and the bashing bandwagon you are on. I would have you to know that many in America know good and well of their "sins" There are also those who are humbly seeking to return to a loving God and his word--"if my people" caday- begins with God's people.

also...

If Cuba helps with aid for those in trouble-great!! God will judge their true motives in what they do. Our job is to do good works--and there are many--and let God judge those in other countries-and he will.

Snow

All what I have jumped on is historically documented. Think of how we would react to a German saying that Nazi atrocities no longer need to be mentioned?

In addition, the NT is clear, God's people are not identified by a nation but by the Church. To make America a Christian country, we must then punish those who do not believe. And if America is not a Christian country, then we have decide what laws that are applicable to Christians are not applicable to our society.

And if American Christians need to repent, then we must be aware of both personal sins, and sins we support simply because we are American citizens. Abortion is one of those sins we must, as Christians oppose. So what else should we oppose after abortion?

Finally, our ties to America need to be put in perspective. That people, even foreigners, are made in the image of God should be much more important to us than the national identity of a person. Fellow believers should be more important to us than fellow Americans. People who promote Biblical principle, whether intentionally or unintentionally, should mean more to us than fellow Americans. All that should be true if our relationship with God is more important than our national identity.
