Burns' PBS War Film Is New Ward Victory

World Bore Two

Ken Burns should have titled this boring mess 'How Grandpa Felt About WW2'. Not discussion of politics, strategy, tactics or equipment just a mess of personal anecdotes and trivia interlaced with long pans overdubbed with the inevitable tinkling piano music. This tracks nicely with the current neo-marxist trend in history that the true history is not the big picture but the story of the little people involved in the events. So hours are spent about race relations in Mobile Alabama and the race between Patton and Montgomery in Sicily (and Sicily itself) go completely unmentioned. Dull, Dull, Dull, Oh God Its Dull.

To skep41 - Sorry You Feel That Way

Thank you for your comment, skep41. I truly am sorry that you find such a riveting and engrossing film boring. Every person will look at this documentary through different eyes, and I would warrant a guess that the majority of people watching this fantastic series are far from being bored.

Your parody of a title, "'How Grandpa Felt About WW2'" is disrespectful to the brave men that risked their lives to protect future generations of Americans, including yourself.

You also mentioned in your comment that there hasn't been any discussion of politics. I completely disagree. Perhaps they just aren't discussing the kind of politics that you want to hear, which beautifully illustrates my point that this documentary is not slanted.

Sincerely,

Susan Baldwin
