ANGLICAN CHURCH, BLISS AND OTHER ???s

Dear Pilgrim,

I'm sorry some "well meaning" christian told you to bliss out. (by the way, I lived in Hawaii for 2 years, and it wasn't "blissful").
The fact that you are concerned about your faith,
and are disturbed at the Pharisee like mentality
of so-called churches tells me that you are still
in the "ship".

Have you ever read "Pilgrim's Progress"? If not, I would highly recommend it.
The author, John Bunyon, was inprisoned for writing it. I pray that you will be strengthened in your faith and convictions.

His servant and yours, Tim

Change for the worst

Hello, Geraldine-
Of course the various Christian denmonations are becoming a pit of liberalism; it's another part of everyday life in the U.S., and for that matter, Western Civilization, that has been slowly colonized by the Left in the past 40 years.
The institutions that defined daily life fell one by one. First, it was politics, then, entertainment, then education and now Church. During the Clinton years, they even made inroads into the armed forces.
The lefties, and for some reason especially homosexuals, have been successfully infiltrating the church, slowly weakening it until it's former standards are gone, and in most cases, can be fully REVERSED.

HOLLYWOOD vs. HOLLYWOOD

Obviously the opinion of CITIZEN KANE by intellectuals has done a 180% turn since the dullard Bosley Crowther and the phoney-baloney Sartre trod the Earth.
As the film is a send-up of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951), liberals finally got around to applauding it. Hearst is one of those super industrialists that made this nation great. They dispised his great patriotism, his ability to create cultural products like films, newsreels, magazines and comic strips that the masses loved. He could affect the sympathies of everyday Americans in a way the left never has, so they called him everything they could, including being pro-German during WWI. The man was also a populist Democrat, even running as one in a losing run for NY Governor in 1906. But he realized just what the Dems were becoming and changed to the GOP during the New Deal. Another reason they loathed him.
So all in all, why did they hate CITIZEN KANE? Didn't the realize it was based on WRH? In the decades afterward, the often pretentious, but important film magazine SIGHT AND SOUND of England ran a top ten films of all time list every ten years begining in 1952, with entries voted by international film critics. That first year, it is not on the list at all, but ten years later, and ever since, it has been given the number one spot! How come? Maybe it's the greatest film ever about those money mad Americans and their corrupt ways.
It is a great film, but too much overpraise tends to wear out it's welcome. It's probably not being judged on any merit but it's politics. What International film critics really like is unbearable fakey-artyness like THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC.
What needs to be done now is basicly reinvent "Film Studies" from the cynical, elitist edu/psycho/political claptrap that it is now, and serve it back as a more popular, positive amusement that it has been 99 per cent of the time since film was invented.
I've taken "Film studies" and it's a heavy, joyless Eurocentric experience, alien to the impulses of being a film watcher, that is, to be entertained. This was in High school. What ought to happen is start off in grade school years, with super light fare like comedies and cartoons. Even hyperjunk like The three Stooges can teach you Something about history through cultural references. And since the begining of Cable TV, all the older things we used to be familiar with have, outside of TCM, vanished from the world of broadcasting. More than ever before, what you and the new generation sees is dictated by others, now the producers of new material, instead of bringing back what's already made.

PILGRIM, WHERE ART THOU?

I really liked the start of this blog, why did it just go to full stop last summer?
