The Keys to the Right Summer Movie Review

Welcome back. Great reviews!

"How I Spent My Summer Vacation", Hmmmm?

First, a tip: You're gonna hate the original Star Trek series, because compared to today's FX, it is CHEESY!

I've got quite a few of these movies on my Netflix list, and am looking forward to seeing them.

I second Brian's comments. Welcome back to the fight.

Welcome back.

Let's see, summer movies I have seen? That would be none. HaHaHa!

I saw one last summer, does that count? I think it was "Get Smart" or maybe "Ironman". I forget.

I'll probably see some of these when they get to Netflix. BTW, did you hear Michael Jackson died?

I think I'm going to miss Billy Mays more!

Let's see....

The wife and I were about to see "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock on Monday...but we got a call during the previews that our base was being evacuated because of a supposed bomb-scare that turned out to be the vehicle of a guy who is currently deployed. Our kids were at the base summer camp, so we had to get 'em.

We'll be looking forward to seeing Star Trek, Wolverine, and Monsters vs Aliens when they come out on video or HBO.

We were warned about Watchmen, and weren't fans of the Watchmen series anyway, so we blew that one off.

Haven't seen either Transformers movie. They never did excite me when I was a kid.

Potter and Ice Age will both be seen in the theaters for sure.

Okay, Craw, 'fess up!

You phoned in that phony bomb threat yourself so you wouldn't have to go watch the chick-flick with your wife.

Man... that's what I'D have done!

I've seen all of those but Monsters v. Aliens. I actually enjoyed them all.

My notes:

Watchmen - Very faithful to the original graphic novel. The violence was actually toned down a bit.

Wolverine - We enjoyed this one a lot, contrary to most reviews. Yes, Hugh Jackmen, but it was cool to see how the character evolved and where he came from, as well. Big, loud, but not as dumb as a lot of action movies.

Star Trek -Very faithful to the spirit of the original with one caveat - it changes some of the history, though with a logical explanation for how and why. Spock was outstanding, and McCoy appeared to be channeling DeForrest Kelley. My wife is a huge fan of the original, and she loved this movie.

Up - Pure and utter nonsense, and all the better for it. The characters are well developed, and the whimsical nature of the story makes you smile the whole way through.

Transformers - Megan Fox running in slow motion. And some other stuff.

BrianR & arik

Bri: I've actually heard that it is a funny flick.

arik: Megan Fox...need her on the trampoline at the end of "The Man Show!"

You guys are pervy!

Just kidding. But seriously, thanks for the comments. And I'll bet that you DID phone in that threat just to get out of seeing "The Proposal!"
Arik, welcome to K to the R!
Yes Sarge, I did hear that MJ bit the big one but I feel sorry for Farrah Fawcett cuz she didn't get her day, and I am gonna miss Billy Mays' loud annoying voice.

Hey!

What about Fred Travalena?

Talk about getting lost in the shuffle.

HE sure picked the wrong day to die.

Excuse me

Fred Travalena

was a very talented impressionist, a lot of time in Vegas, and on TV a couple decades ago... you young whippersnapper!

And now we have Karl Malden and Harve Presnell kicking off, too.

Glad I found your blog! I saw Star Trek and was pleasantly surprised. Had to watch an oldie with my fiancee, Wrath of Khan, and had to laugh. Amazing how well FX has improved over the years.

btw, I also miss Billy Mays' loud voice.
