There once was a governor from a fairly large state who raised taxes in just one year by $1 billion (at a time when his state's budget was only $5 billion). This governor eventually ran for President, on--of all things--a tax-cutting platform. (How bizarre! How bizarre!)

This governor was Ronald Reagan. The year was 1967. And in today's dollars, the tax increase would have equaled anywhere from $10 billion to $22 billion.

Now, who is the bigger liberal? Ronald Reagan (who raised state taxes by the billions) or Mike Huckabee (who raised taxes by considerably less)?
