McCain's VP

SSW

He should pick a woman, that would be smart in my opinion,he would pick up a lot of Demo voters.

Mitt Romney!

Romney is the only VP choice that I would be truly happy with. Gov. Romney brings the most to the ticket, shoring up conservatives, bringing economic and executive experience, and helping in MI and possibly NH and the west. I hear people saying that McCain needs to pick a woman to gain the support from unsatisfied Clinton supporters, but those that would vote for McCain are not going to be any more likely to vote for him because he kissed up to them by choosing a female VP. I believe that Romney has the oratory skills to compete with Biden in the VP debated, Pawlenty or any other untested veep could become overwhelmed by all of Biden's bloviating. Mitt Romney did well in the primary debates and has never had a problem giving a well delivered jab while maintaining a calm and jovial demeanor. Finally, Romney is well vetted and well known. There are no potential skeletons in his closed waiting to be exposed by the Dems, and McCain wouldn't have to introduce him to the country for the first time. McCain/ Romney 2008!

Ralph,

I agree! Romney likely would have won the primaries had it not been for Huckabee staying in and taking some votes. Huckabee fans, you are welcome to argue with this, please do!!

There has been undue prejudice against Romney for being Mormon, but he has conservative leanings (despite the healthcare thing in MA -- hopefully he has changed on this one).

I read some article (on Townhall) saying that whoever has the most ties to royalty always wins. I don't know the facts on this, or if it is acurate, but it sounds reasonable.

Romney is a successful business man and family man.

Drillbit,

Hey,I just saw "Drillbit Taylor"!

Anyway, I agree that a female running mate could be a smart choice, but I'm not sure who is well-known enough to be that VP. Condi wouldn't accept this position, although being black and female would be a smart political choice. There's Janice Rogers Brown, but she's a justice. Who is there to nominate?

SPPJ

Yeah,I stole the name from the movie. It sounded cool.

SPPJ

I was fantasizing about Ferarro, she hates the Messiah and would go after him like a tiger on a fresh kill.

I like Palin.

I know, sounds cheesy, and I try not to do the "feminist" thing, but I like Palin. Problem is that she would have no influence over McCranky at all. She's good for the ticket, but not much else. I fear, McCain is probably really a Big Time chauvenist A-hole at heart.

As far as who would do the country most good when McCranky kicks the bucket:
Romney is my pick.

I am also mulling over the thought of Petreus--heard that name recently. My impression was that he's rather liberal, though.

After Romney, I'm sorry....hate to say it, but Jeb Bush. I like the Bush's, even if they have atrocious spending habits.

Squiddy

For a different take on the Biden nomination, stop by my place.

I agree with Drillbit

A woman who would get votes from the Dems. 18 million pissed off votes. McCain-Hillary.

SC!

Why would Sarah Palin, a true conservative, want to hitch her wagon to a liberal mule like McAmnesty?

She should keep her powder dry till 2012, then run on a ticket with Bobby Jindal, an absolutely unbeatable combo.

Otherwise she risks becoming the next Jack Kemp or John Edwards.

And on that topic

I just posted a new essay of sputtering conservative outrage.

Come on DO-O-O-O-WN!

Well......

Looks like I credited Palin with too many smarts, after all.

Squiddy

I guess I don't agree with a lot commented here. I think Palin is a good choice. She's taken down corrupt repubs in her own state, she is a gun totin, a**kickin woman and I just don't see her bending over to McCain with a little demure whimper.

She's got more balls than most men in the Repub party.

She's one tough lady and not scared of much. If McCain turns out to be a chauvinistic Ahole as someone mentioned, I do believe she'll tell him so and resign if she gets treated badly.

I don't think she's getting enough credit from some people here on your blog, but that's just MHO.

Well, Pepp

That would be great EXCEPT there's never in the entire history of this country been one case of a VP resigning over political differences with the "boss".

There's only ONE name at the top of the ticket, and that's McCain.

She'll do and say what HE tells her to do and say. Just like Lieberman did as Gore's VP candidate in 2000. He didn't look comfortable doing it -- as a matter of fact, he looked extremely funny doing it -- but do it he did.

Just like SHE will.

So HER views are meaningless. VP is meaningless.

There's only ONE person going to be sitting in the Oval Office, and it ain't going to be Palin.

Pepp & Brian,

Yeah, Pepp, I like everything I hear about Palin, and she sounds tough and very ethical, like you say. I hope she CAN have a good influence over McCain.

And Brian, hopefully she wouldn't just bend to Mc's will, but I see your point in that it is the norm in politics.

I'm still not happy about McCain, but I'm even less happy about Obama. We'll see what happens over the next few months.

Brian

A VP's views may be meaningless but McCain is 72, if something happens to him someone will need to take the helm, and I think Palin would be better at it than Liberman.
Squiddy, New post on my blog!

More UK "freedom" on my blog

I liked Romney, but Sarah seems interesting ...

It's worse than you think

Ref: My blog

By installing tracking devices into people's cars, and by introducing variable charging rates, the government can effectively dictate which roads in the UK are the most used.

This is dictatorship by the back door - control of freedom of movement.

A future dictator could increase prices on a particular street, to punish a political opponent.

McCain came through big time, SP

Palin is going to knock the socks off the viewers tonight!

Squiddy

Looks like Sarah hit another grand slam with Charlie!

Ob/Biden don't know what hit e'm!

Sheila,

I agree! They are all threatened by a powerful woman. Liberals have all kinds of complexes and end up hating a woman who represents working mothers and successful women, which they claim to love!

SquiddyPopPerkeyJean

How about this article on Palin,
http://www.aim.org/aim-column/mccain-feeds-palin-to-the-wol ves/

When he says "They should have “Let Palin be Palin.”" Makes the case, don't turn her into a mini McCain.

She just has to hold her own against Biden in the VP debate to look good.

Squiddy

I don't know where you've been lately; I hope everything's okay.

I just posted my post-election analysis essay.
