Crisitunity

Hahahahaha!

Great ending to a fascinating essay.

You nailed it. "If it bleeds, it leads"... the old news maxim.

The Dems take that further. The "bleeding" sob story -- always some unfortunate "victim" they drag in front of the cameras -- creates and personalizes the "crisis", giving it a face, and therefore heartbreak quality.

"It's for the children", for example, the tired lib chestnut of justification.

Then, once they've "won some hearts and minds" (to use the old Vietnam War saying) they're more than halfway to victory in the psych war of issues.

That's the big advantage libs have: they can always find a "victim" left behind by the system for people to sob over. What do conservatives have? "The victim caused his/her own problems by spending foolishly or failing to invest or failing to get an education or using drugs or whatever".

Doesn't quite have the same emotional ooomph to a lot of people, does it?

This is a charitable country, and libs cynically exploit that generosity to further their destructive goals. They're just a bunch of con men and grifters.

Brian, thanks for dropping by and

commenting.

What I think the conservatives also have is perspective, sort of what you describe in the sense that you look at what happened, and more importantly why, and try and assess whether or not something is really that big a deal or not.

And also the knowledge that gubmint intervention is pretty much never what's in the best interests of the 'victim', and usually will have unfortunate implications for the rest of us. Tough love is often what's required, or a kick in the pants, but public displays compassion are the norm, as opposed to actually doing the heavy lifting of trying to address the problem. And tough love is harder to do than simply give in, as you know as a parent and having witnessed the radicalization of the Universities in the 60's.

As Reagan said

The scariest words in the English language: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help".

Yeah, baby...

The newest victim thing for dems

Is that Spector-acle that happened at the TH meeting.

Indeed, how they love the victim meme. Although when the tables turn how they whine.

Conservatives just seem to buck up and take it on the chin with some perspective and move forward for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Sans government self-determining to spend OPM!! Oy.

Nee, thanks for the link,

just another example of liberal projection. They stack meetings with paid or union protestors to disrupt them, silence the opposition and make it look like they have more support than they do. So that's obviously why they accuse the other side of doing the same thing. They can't imagine an actual protest by real, concerned, citizens, because they've never actually been able to hold one themselves.

Hahahahahaha!

"They can't imagine an actual protest by real, concerned, citizens, because they've never actually been able to hold one themselves.'

Yeah, that about sums it up.

That's why they hate the Tea Parties, too. The very idea that citizens can hold mass demonstrations without having the police have to make mass arrests, and without untold dollars in property damage.... they don't have Clue One about that, either.

Another great meal from the Diner!

I never put together the bottom line linkage between the Democrats and press hyping up everything into some crisis, but you opened my eyes to a new idea here. Liberals of all stripes need a crisis because the ideas they espouse are generally repugnant to even moderates, but the idea of a crisis will make people suspend their better judgment so that the "crisis" can be contained. And once the left gets a toehold on an issue, they will eventually keep taking pieces of it until they take over...kind of like kudzu, come to think of it!

Btw, be on the look out for a new essay at the Spade. I have a new one rattling around the old noggin that will likely be up later today!

Hi Flag, thanks for the kind words,

I'll be checking over at your place.

Philosoph

I just posted a new essay at my place. Swing on by.

Homer Simpson

Classic!

Remember what happened to a mother who lost her son in the Iraq war, and the liberal media used her to get at Bush? I was listening to the radio yesterday and they brought that up. Kind of sick how they push agenda.

Or the so called reports covering the tea parties?

Great post.
