THE CURRENT SENATE DEBATE ON HEALTH CARE REFORM

Thanks for suffering through

three days of disgust and anger producing antics of our "representatives". I'm sure you felt like throwing your shoe at your TV more than once. I'm not at all surprised that Obama's claims are all a bunch of lies. He isn't remotely familiar with the truth. I absolutely agree we have to do something BEFORE 2010. I've been saying that for months. Hope we get in the saddle and take our country back before it's too late. Times a wastin' as my grandma used to say. We best hurry.

Glenn, You May Be Correct,

but I hope there are enough senators who fear an uprising by the people to not allow this bill to pass.

If not, then we could be in open revolt soon.

Bobbie, Grey

Thank for your support and encouragement. Yes, there were many times I wanted to kick the cr*p out of my TV, literally. I've gotten to the point that Obama's voice makes me cringe, kinda' like Hitchcock saying, "Good Evening..."

I am also to the point where I don't think there is any political solution for what ails our country. I just hope that we can take her back without destroying very much of it.

We've just gotta keep hoping that the GOP stays solid against both, and that they can get a couple of Dems to follow the will of the people and the Constitution. The opposition by the people to these bills is obvious in every poll, and the politicians are starting to fear for their jobs.

Craw

That is my last reasonable hope. IF there are enough MEN in Washington to defeat both HC reform and C&T, we could make it fairly unscathed until the 2010 elections.

Obama has turned over our economic sovereignty to the IMF. They have approval authority over future spending, taxation, etc. He did this at the G20 summit.

This HC reform is one of their demands.

Is it me or do NEARLY ALL Senators come across as unemployed talking heads? So FEW of them have ANY knowledge of the things they write policy on.

Georgetwin

No, it's not just you. I believe we have elected the most inexperienced, disingenuous, morally defficient, lacadazical, greedy, power hungry, mentally challenged, unsincere group of less than humans in history.

Madison counted on elected officials having a modicum of respect and loyalty to those who had sent them to their duties. He wasn't very good on human nature in the 21st century.

Vote Them All Out In The 2010 Primaries!!

Glenn

Crawfish...excellent post..

"We've just gotta keep hoping that the GOP stays solid against both"

One correction, if I may.

We've just gotta 'make certain' that the GOP stays solid against both....

With whatever that takes....

Thank you.

Glenn

“Once in place, these laws would have a profound effect on the nation that would be near impossible to reverse.”

The dems understand this better than anyone. And for that reason they’ll get this passed, even if it means using the 50 vote reconciliation process. A defeated bill equates to lost democrat congressional seats in 2010; likewise, if the bill is rammed through, similar result are likely to occur. So if I’m a dem intent on keeping my job, I’ll stay the course of total system reformation that is geared to increase my power base.

That fact that nearly all the politicians seem to accept the fact that the federal government can introduce legislation to somehow “fix” this problem, reveals that the camel’s nose and neck are already in the tent. It’s only a matter of time until we’re sleeping with the beast.

Pinata Politics

I like to think of the tactics as "Earmarks R Us" and the strategy as Piñata Politics. Both essential to any war on prosperity.

My thoughts exactly. And if we're right, too bad for them that took us there.

Piñata Politics! That's great. Swinging wildly while blind hoping to be rewarded.

What a concept for government.

Appreciate everyone's comments.

Mr. Flowers

Very readable layout...why it looks near professional!

Having said that...
1. abortion cannot be a mandated benefit as part of a minimum benefits package. Federal funds are prohibited for abortions unless the pregnancy is due to rape, incest, or if the life of the mother is in danger.
2. I've written my state's reps..the mandate is obscene!
3. Need to review CBO's "comments"

coop

Thanks for the support.

Having said that....

1. Since when does the law present any restrictions for the federal government. An executive order, or a supercession clause and it's a done deal.

2 & 3. Smart fella!

Well I'm a week and a half behind -

the times here, but did coopmeister suffer a recent blow to the head? He sounds almost - well not conservative but -- neo-con, and supportive too? Anyhow the real catch phrase is "life of the mother". Since mental health has long been considered within the context of endangering the life of the mother, de facto federal funding for virtually all abortion exists regardless any sophistry to the contrary within the law.

Glenn

We have a lot of problems going on and I am sorry if Obama thinks he is going to solve everything and wrap it up all nice in a few months, I don't think so.

This entire health care fiasco is out of control. It's a crisis, but won't be ready to go until 2012 or whenever. Everything is a crisis. So we throw more money at it and call it a day.

I saw Romer the other day. Oh the stimulus had a big bang. When? Oh but hey, unemployment will continue to rise. Ugh!

And I am sorry, Obama is not "uniting" our country. I think we are more divided than ever.
