Thanks for writing this essay. It made my eyes tear up a bit.

It adds to my disgust of Bush in his second term that he couldn't have done something to make a fitting memorial.

Not gonna hold my breath on Obama stepping up to the plate on that issue. Actually, I would prefer that he just stay away from that site period. In my mind, his presence would sully the place.

Jackpine, God bless you and everyone else that still loves America and what she stands for.

CF

Thanks for the kind words.

Although the overall experience is one I'll treasure, it could have been so much better, if the govt didn't do what it always does.

Jackpine Savage

Concur with Curtal.

Our gov't in toto is OUT OF TOUCH with us.

If you haven't already I reccomend you copy your whole post and send to Mike Smerconish. He is not superconservative but I enjoy his show on my drive to work. (being a Philly guy about his age I relate to a lot of what he says). As you know he was probably one of the royalty in the tent and he brought 5 buses of people and Mr Perez there.

I believe if he knew the problems he could fix it for next year. If he doesn't respond or responds with a poor answer (that would shock me but hey anything is possible)drop me a note at tinsldr2@yahoo.com and I will stop listening to his show.

he is promoting a book about Mr Perez and the proceeds from the book will go to a memorial there. But I do like your idea of keeping the publics memorial tokens

Lets Roll

Rob

Well, Jack...

...it's kind of hard for the government to build a memorial to things like bravery and sacrifice these days, I mean then they are put into the position of having to ackowledge the evil these people rose to stand against. Can't be having that, oh my no no no, someone may take offense that their religion of peace were being besmirched.

Gunny

Thanks, and I agree.

I believe the best memorial is the one the people have made themselves.

Anyone who can visit that site and come away with dry eyes has no heart.

Thanks for stopping by. :o)

I may just do that.

It really pisssed me off to see the Americans who freely gave of their time, and spent their money to honor the flight 93 heroes, treated like Serfs.

And it's not about Obama, Bush was in charge for 7 of those 8 years, it's Government itself that's broken, and adding More of it won't fix things.

Ray

Sadly, I agree.

I remember when America had a pair that clanked.
Now we sit down to pee.

Of course, last saturday shows that they appear to be Regenerating.

And the libs are scared silly.

Jackpine, Thanks; Pentagon Memorial OK

Isn't that something -- ground zero in NY is not much better. I will refrain from an editorial about monuments, health care, and government.

I managed to go to the Pentagon's 9-11 memorial last summer and it was very well done I thought. As you describe in your post one senses a presence at that place that is extraordinary. I recall feeling that only at Manassas (Bull Run). I can explain it no further, but understand that feeling.

I lost 4 friends on AA 77, one of whom was headed out to meet with me on the afternoon of 9-11, which makes it very personal. I can only imagine how personal that would be to the families who had loved ones on the PA plane. Why would the government create such a stupid emblem? What were they thinking?

Thanks for posting; thanks for taking the trip to the Tea Party in DC. You are a good American.

Thanks for sharing

your special memories. Very moving. Just goes to show how much good there is in people. God bless.

Our government is a bunch of muck ups. That never changes.

Peggy

Aint that the truth.

Thanks for stopping by. :o)

If it is stupid

The government will think of it, it it doesn't make sense, the government will implement it.

Jack

Thanks for sharing this. Wow - lets build something to show our support for these Americans that stood up for their country. It is sad.

Thank you for showing your support for these brave men and women.

Maybe some day we can build something to thank them for their sacrafice and be able to go look at it to remember them.

I agree Joe

To err is human, to really screw things up you need bureaucrats.

Sue

I agre, 8 years is far too long to go without properly honoring these heroes.

Sad part is, with Political correctness, the chances of actually getting a Meaningfyul memorial are slim and none.

Jackpine

I definitely have to get there. I think the next march on Washington, Ill take a drive there instead of flying and I'll stop by there. Great post.

Btw, I think it is in the water in MN for people like Immelman lol(I drink filtered water only haha). I had to basically repeat your fascism=left and anarchy=right point. We'll see if he responds lol.

CK

Thanks for stopping by. :o)

You'll be glad you made the trip, the power in that field is somethng that stick with you.
Thinking about it still gives me chills.
(But at least my leg isn't tingling)

I don't thik immelman can be helped, he's working off a false set of "facts" which color his every thought. He's a product of our dumbed down education system.
