Even Putin Warning Us About Our Socialistic Direction

The issue isn't whether we have too much or too little government; the issue is whether we have a representative government. If the officials we elect ignore what most Americans want in order to pursue their own objectives or the objectives of those who paid for their campaign, then we have a too much/too little issue.

But what if the officials, while passing laws and making policies were representing the wish of the majority of the people who voted for them? Can we say that we have too much gov't?

Currently, we have a government that protects certain parts of the private sector as those parts gain wealth at everyone's expense. They allowed for the deregulation that enabled financial institutions to take too many big risks as they tried to ever increase profits. When they failed, our gov't used our money to pay for the costs but neither did they install any accountability nor did they write into the bailouts measures that would allow the public to sufficiently enjoy the profits when these institutions recover. Here the risks are socialized while the profits are privatized.

The problem with most on TH is that count all gov't as sinners while the private sector consists of saints. In actuality, both sectors are full of sinners. It is up to the people to do more than just vote to make sure that their elected officials represent them rather than represent the money that paid for their campaigns.
