Why America Is In Serious Trouble And Requires A Radical Change

The cures that Obama suggests are worse than the disease. Higher taxes and more government regulation will drive more industries overseas and protectionist trade policies will make any goods available here more expensive and lower in quality. Abandoning our allies in the Middle east and demilitarizing to fund the vast array of new programs proposed will increase energy prices drastically. If the radical change is to abandon free markets, apply draconian taxes to business, and gut the military while trillions are squandered on entitlements we are in for an FDR-style depression.

Okay, you can condemn Obama's agendas and programs to changes that would help re-empower America.

But tell us your own solutions to America's problems.

We know Obama's agendas but not yours!

Obama has and won. And he is still wining!

If he can demolish the wife of an ex-president who had $130 million dollars war chest, is backed by the powerful Dem. political machine and make her cry and lose control of herself, he can run America.

If all those elected officials and very experienced politicos know what they are doing, why is America in a cesspool of mess and the joke of all countries around the world and very much hated now?

Obama's positive, focused, clean, and victorious campaign is enough evidence that as a president he would know what to do to make America start winning again.

scogostology, everything you claim is wrong with America can be attributed to two things: 1) government got involved when it shouldn't have and 2) government got involved when it shouldn't have. And this Obama character thinks the answer is MORE GOVERNMENT? You liberal types (conservatives too, but to a lesser degree) don't understand that we live in a representative two-party democracy that changes power quite often. If you put in place some huge government program under a Democrat regime the odds are a Republican administration will oversee that program sometime in the future, and vise-versa. So if you think your side is so good, when the other side takes over, they're gonna "do it wrong" according to you. So the solution is GET GOVERNMENT OUT. The Constitution clearly spells out where and how government is supposed to burden our lives, and most of what it does today is explicitly forbidden by the document (i.e. fighting wars without Congress declaring it, entitlement programs, government ownership of private property, government usurping private property via eminent domain, Washington dictating how your children should be educated/indoctrinated) Its unbelievable, the Founders would be pretty upset with us that we have not taken up arms against a government that keeps us slaves to its financial burden for 5 months out of the year (tax freedom day is in late May and moves back further every year). My solutions? No welfare, no entitlements, no war without Congress declaring it, no Federal dept. of education, less regulation of the economy, leave more decisions up to the states and local governments... basically, let people live their lives as they see fit, and if they mess up, that's their problem, not mine.

I believe you are better than most commentators because you offer solutions, instead of just listing the problems like most columnists and writers do.

The problem is that America is too big.

It is like 50 countries with different laws and policies where most of them conflict with one another and with too many jurisdictions and laws.

Someday, they would make a law against breathing.

I think this is the only law they have not passed yet. Or they would probably start making us pay taxes to breathe air!

If you have less government, it does not work because anarchy will reign supreme.

If you more government again, it does not work because the government becomes a burden, bureaucratic, abusive, incompetent and despotic.

My idea is to abolish the office of the President and replace it with a council of 12 co-presidents who would then be able to manage this big nation called America.

I think America is just too big for one man to be the President. Let us start from there and then start cutting off all the excess baggages and restricting the American runaway media who delight in dividing the people and instigating problems among them in order to generate news, publicity and make billions of dollars.

If the American media is put on a leash, half of American problems would vanish overnight.
