I started to say that this country deserves it but that's not true. Most of the people in this country deserve better than that. And better than the government we now have.

but they and the Uribe government have been about the best ally we have in this hemisphere. Good job on bringing this up. This is as much a part of the war on terror as any other front, and more important to many because of the clout Chavez would get from a victory over Uribe.

It's amazing how little media coverage that part of the world gets. The Middle East gets 20 times the coverage. Chavez just took another step to rig the upcoming elections by disqualifying all the prominent opponents of the regime. He is slowly instituting the socialist takeover of the economy that the voters rejected. We have Colin Powell and W to thank for this. Early in 2001 a group of Air Force officers arrested Chavez but the US insisted that the 'legitimate' government be restored. Idiots.

I just saw the greatest T-shirt. Its a picture of Hugo Chavez and the logo was "Por Que Te Calle?"
"Why dont you shut up?" I couldn't figure out whether it was pro or con. It could be a famous Chavez quote or somebody who wants Chavez to shut up. I've only met a few Venezuelans but the ones who have fled to LA seem to hate him.
