Atheists and "Love"

What about...

... a Wiccan environmentalist blocking the escalator while holding a newly-bought window air conditioner? :-P

I can see it now. The Love Pill, prescribed with the Birth Control Pill or Viagra... Ugh...

Excellent Job

This is also an excellent read. Again, if I didn't know better, I'd say you know my friend. :)

If atheists are right ...

Quote: "Look, atheists, if you're right, then we don't have souls. If we don't have souls, 100% of our feelings and experiences are just electro-chemical stimuli."

If atheists are right then we *are* nothing except a random batch of molecules interacting in complicated, but nevertheless mechanical, ways. Right and wrong do not exist. They are illusions. In fact the very idea of an "illusion" does not exist: nothing exists except interacting molecules. Are there right and wrong / virtuous and destructive / acceptable and unacceptable ways for molecules to interact?

An atheist who argues for right and wrong is trying to have it both ways --- the total autonomy of the individual, unfettered by pesky restrictions from higher beings ("your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil"), but with the comfort of an absolute moral standard to shelter them from a meaningless existence in an uncaring, unknowing universe. But don't listen to me, I'm just 175lb. of chemicals.

Thanks for stopping by the Hate Machine. I like the way your seratonin bumps into your neuroreceptors.

Big Christopher Hitchens Fan, Eh?

Ha ha...

I love the way you express these ideas. Yep yep yep! Atheists never do have a good answer for the origins of life and the universe. And where do all truths and virtues come from, if not from God?

I saw a debate on Book TV last month between Dinesh D'Souza and C. Hitchens on atheism, and I think Dinesh wiped the floor with his atheist crap.
