The Extreme Nanny State

I predicted this kind of intrusion for this country as soon as the brouhaha over "secondhand smoke" started years ago, and I still think we'll see it here.

Tax surcharges if you're over a certain weight or cholesterol level or something.

Wait and see; you WILL see it proposed for this country.

this isn't too far fetched...

They're taking kids away from their parents because their too fat.

Granted, it borders on child abuse, but where does it end?
It starts with socialize medicine, of course.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry about this.
In some ways it's funny in a weird way.

But, seriously, we are not far from this kind of government intrusion. Just look at airlines ready to weigh you to know how much to charge you for your ticket.

It's getting really scary to think Big Brother is breathing down your back all the time.

And, then there is that proposal in CA to regulate people's thermostats by the government.

Please leave me alone, government. It's not your business.

Just back from camping, and appreciate the comments. Brian, you are absolutely right, we are already seeing this kind of nannyism on display in everything from second hand smoke to bicycle helmets. Redhead hits it too, it starts with the logical rationing of socialized medicine.
