Parallels in Time: Bush, Lincoln, GWOT & the American Civil War

Well done

I would agree 100% with your treatise but I detect a "politically correct" element. I abhor PC but that is my issue and not yours.

The only item or further input I might add is a topic that you indeed touched on but needs further detail. That would require an entire new entry.

We, as a nation, as a people, have not been this politically, socially and ideologically split since 1861. I get adverse reactions/responses as well as overwhelming agreement in my assessment that we are on the brink of another Civil War in this country.

Our CONgress Critters no longer represent We The People. They represent "We The Party and the rest of you can KMA". If We The people continue down this road, we will once again see blood flowing in our streets.

Snooper - Yup it would be a good subject

Of course the current Red/Blue State view of the country that is popular could lend credence to a new civil war...but the truth is there are not even such things as Red/Blue Counties, let alone states...I've be doing an on again/off again survey of the top 100-300 counties in the US by population and comparing their election results from the last congressional and presidential elections.

The results are that very few places of significant population can actually say they have a Preponderancy (75%+) of a single voting view in modern America, as opposed to 1860's America where this sort of sectional feeling was the norm, in the exception areas where either a Majority, Plurality, or Multiplicity existed in the Civil War, you can see the more internecine blood letting reminiscent of sectarian violence (i.e. Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. the border states to a greater/lesser degree dependent on their level - majority, plurality, multiplicity)

IMO for actual textbook civil war (not the sectarian violence you see in Iraq) you need areas with true Preponderancy, not simple Majority or Plurality. This is probably why the Ethnic cleansing is happening in Iraq between the sects as a natural, unconscious tendency to establish a precursor for actual civil war - to achieve those Preponderancies of opinion in their chosen territories.
