Michael Medved, Mitt Romney: What's 12 million Mormons, more or less? (Less)

Some helpful facts.

I have also been impressed with the vast knowledge of Michael Medved. Several times in your article you stated that the you believed but were no sure about a policy. I am a member of the LDS church and would be glad to share with you the actual policies.
First of all you stated that they never reduce numbers even when people leave the church. Each year they report not only the number of poeple baptized, but also the number of people who have been excomunicated or have had their names removed.
Second each member of the church is assigned to a specific congregation. Each congregation has a "ward clierk" It is the responsibility of the ward clerk to keep the membership records up to date. When people die it is his responsibility ro remove their name. If a individual moves to a new congregation their membership records are pulled from their old congregation. If an individual moves and their records are not requested they are sent to the central office who looks up their current address. This system of geographicaly assigned congregations allows the church to track membership as accurately as possible.

Wow.

Michael Medved's facts were amazingly correct. Such a seemingly insignificant bit of trivia was apparently important to him.

I wish you could get over your problems with Mormons and take a page from Medved's book. But I fear that you might be beyond the pale, so to speak.
