Not Surprised
this happened. I am glad Obama is actually trying to cut the budget in some places, but defense is not always the best area to make cuts when you are at war. I am more worried about him cutting missile defense systems with Iran and North Korea gaining nukes.

So am I. It seems Obama and his ilk have all the wrong ideas for this country. I wonder what the national uproar would be if everybody knew this.

Yeah, there are also other ways to save money. Then you have Russia who duped Obama on their missile reduction. The missiles they were to reduce were retired and were to be discarded anyway. North Korea sees it can push harder these days with the U.N and Obama really accomplishing no efforts of disarmament.

Regardless of President Obama's
agenda, Eric, the F-22 is a bad plane and superfluous. Our military doesn't want this plane. The vote for it by Senator Saxby Chambliss of Georgia was porkulus-political pandering.

Thanx for the post and this thread is a great read also.
Only one thing, IMHO this President is not "naive." He knows precisely what he is doing and counts on distractions and "crises" to allow him to finally destroy the Republic.

One Reason For Defense Cuts
The Defense Industries seldom hire "retards", illiterates, welfare recipients, and aging "hippies" (the "core voters for the Democrats). Therefore it never hurts the Democrats to cut any defense spending they can.
I know little about the F-22, whether it is a bad aircraft (as drpete says) or the best thing since the P-51. I do know that the Democrats will always cut defense spending; and then when it comes back to "haunt" the country, these same Democrats will blame everyone but themselves.

Interesting. Your probably the first person I've heard that has downed the plane. Just wondering if you've talked to those who have flown it or if it's your own observations.

True. Everything is a crisis to him and even with some of the cuts he is making, his policies far outspend the savings. If that health care plan passes, we're adding a coffin to the already dug grave.

Yeah, the government is really going backwards on national security. But Napolitano thinks we're more threats than actual terrorists. We have an insane asylum in the white house now.

Yeah. I had a teacher who used to work at Boeing. Very smart man. Those at Lockheed Martin are the same. The Wright Brothers started the first flight and Americans have kept going since. I hope this is not a major slowdown for the aviation industry.

So I guess
that if we ever have to tangle with a nation that has some of the newest generation of MiG and Sukhoi aircraft, we're supposed to shoot spitwads at 'em.
No other FIGHTER aircraft in service anywhere in the world has the combination of stealth capability and the Raptor's weapons systems. The F-35 will be SOMEWHAT stealthy, but since it carries its weapons on external mounts instead of internal bays, it loses stealth when loaded for battle.

Yeah, I've looked into the technology used to build the Raptor and is quite impressive. Among the arguments is whether the F-22 is the best fighter jet out there or not. If we stop production of our aircraft and missiles, how will we halter an attack? I'm wondering the very same things you are.

I haven't really heard the Raptor...
...is a dog so much (see: Ospry), but most of what I've heard is along the lines of "Do we need it?"
I can't speak from personal experience or knowledge but the bulk of the arguement against it seems to be that it doesn't fill a void.
What I'm really curious about is what the devil is going to take over for the B-52? The "invisible" flying wing may be a real gee-whiz piece of equipment but it seems when a trainload of iron needs delivered that 1950's wonder of modern technology still doesn't have a replacement.

Yeah, I've pondered over that and I'm wondering if they'll build something smaller with similar aerodynamic principles and build. If the fuselage will be the same, I'm wondering how they could replicate the old bomber in a smaller composite aircraft. Our military aircraft are the best in the world... wondering where this will go...

Typical Liberal
First I have to say that I have more interest in this then most as I was an engioneer at Pratt & Whitney and worked on the 119 engine. I got layed off with thousands of other engineers when they canceled it the first time in 93. When Clinton canceled it the first time after the aviation industry spent a billion on developing it of their own money and were promised production. Clinton virtually ripped the money from their hands and wiped out a large portion of the aviation industry. There were 18 contrators building air frames before Clinton and only 7 after Clinton.
And once again, liberal presidents always get us in as many or more conflicts, but always cut the military budget. The fact is that Obama just like any other Dimocrit has no respect for human life and especially not the military.

I've always wondered why libs hate the military so much. They think they're all high school dropouts bereft of intelligence. I know many who have served or are serving and they are smarter than I am, and I'm counted on as a little above average by most.
It also seems that the liberal presidents make the wrong decisions with the military. I guess FDR made a good decision entering ww2 but otherwise...
