I got really bored, so i finially had to see what you were always blabbering about when it comes to this blog of yours. I must admit, I thought it was well written, and made a very good point. I may be one of those people who was crazy sixty years ago, but as far as the "fanatics" who hate this country and everything it stands for, no I don't think they will every befriend our nation. They have no country, and recognize no borders. They only exist to spread their message of hate and discontent for the west. Now, we are talking about a country like Iraq, and helping them become a free nation, well maybe. But don't forget, that we were attacked by Japan back then, we did not invade Japan because their leader was a tyrant. In that case, they picked the fight, not us, and yes we did help rebuild their country to prosparity, but is it really the same?

But I think you need to read it again. And you need to read about the "Sunni Awakening" that occurred in Anbar Province.

The Sunnis originally were helping al-Qaeda in killing American soldiers and over time, they recognized the error of their ways. Within months, al-Qaeda were being driven from Anbar because the Sunnis began helping us.

The parallels I write about are many and as usual, history is the greateast teacher. Those fanatics who will not acquiesce and lay down arms must be exterminated with brute force just as we did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki when the Japanese would not surrender.

You note the one very distinct difference with this war in that we were not attacked by a nation state such as a Japan. The nature of this war against an amorphous enemy make the fight that much more difficult and long-term. It's also difficult for people like Z-bo to understand! haha :-)~ Get him reading!!!!
