Blogworld: "You Also Have The Right To Listen"

Heh heh, Phil

Well, it's flattering that they remembered my blog, that's for sure.

Actually, the "R" in my moniker is my middle initial. When I was creating it, it never occurred to me that it might be interpreted as the political (R) equivalent.

How about "I"? Or "C" for "conservative"? Even more fitting, I think.

BTW, I posted a couple of comments on the Hewitt blog piece, after yours.

Man..... I see what little remains of my "life" flying out the window......

BrianR

I saw your comments> Did you notice the Jew-hating paulbot Roho? If McCain and Guiliani would simply disappear, we could possibly get to Hunter or at least have a clearer picture of Romney by now and wouldn't have to hear from all of these nuts. Believe it or not, I believe we are winning. I have another post to go later tonite. I am still digesting that political panel discussion I witnessed that John Hinderaker mentioned at Powerline yesterday. I really think the "money" is wasting its money on these candidates and voters of both parties just aren't stupid enough to buy into their message. If ever there was an election where the corruption was so transparent, this is it. If Romney doesn't get the nomination or if he turns out to be another Trojan horse, I think Ron Paul will throw this election into an electoral college crisis and Congress will end up picking the next prez. I don't think they would let Ron Paul in but deals, deals, deals.....

I like Echochambers.

I hear what I want in there.

More entertaining to me about this piece here is what it reveals about you. First, your goals for why you write, and Second, what you actually enjoy doing....It is fascinating.

You and I are very different. If I was forced to go to that, and talk to all those people, I would use the taser on myself.

Shining City

You couldn't force me to do go either but then again, I work for myself and wanted to go. It is re-energizing to talk to enthusiastic and ambitious people who are successful and want to tell you how they did it. (And tasing is a very under-appreciated pleasure.)

This blog has little if anything to do with where I am going with blogging. This has been an experiment to try and see where it would go. I've discovered that I write well enough to convey an accurate and positive picture of my personality, that I can brand myself and that it is still early to be a business pioneer in this medium. This hasn't been a waste of time and I expect that I will continue to make friends.

As to tasing yourself, I'm sure you will enjoy it. Electric shocks work best on people who are well grounded.

PPhil

This may be a double post because TH is acting up so please forgive if so.

What I had said in my "lost post" is that nothing we do is a waste of time. That each and every experience is a path, and all those paths connect at some point. It may not be what you were looking for or thinking it would be. But, if one lets these experiences flow, one can be quite surprised at the outcome.

I say that in reference to your venture into the blog world conference and all you were able to take in and assimilate. One never knows where this one experience will take you.

Pep

There is much wisdom in your words. I'm an advocate of Joseph Campbell's "Follow you bliss" dictat.

"Follow your bliss and doors of opportunity will open where you never even knew there were doors. And they may only be open for you - if you follow your bliss."

I also believe everything happens for a reason. I never regret trying something.

PPhil

We have something in common! I love Joseph Campbell too. Follow your bliss is my mantra also.

I am the same. I never regret trying something either. Everything I've ever tried has brought me to some place in my life or added to it in some way that never would have occurred to me.

What Campbell said about doors opening is so utterly true. If you're on the right path, one door after another just swings open like magic. I've experienced it too. If it's right it will come.

I wish you the best of luck with your endeavors Phil. You are a good writer and obviously a provocative one.

PPhil

I hope you don't stop writing your blog here at TH. I would miss you and your very worthy comments.

Pep

You couldn't shut me up. I plan on doing this as long as people show up. And I enjoy visiting too. I wish I had more time.

Yeah, Phil

I saw that yesterday.

I saw you hung in there; my stuff was just falling by the wayside, so I gave up.

It would be interesting if an election went to the House; of course, right now, that means a Dem win.

But again, like you, I don't see that as the End Of The World, either.

Enlightening

Joseph Campbell's one of my favorites, also.
It must have been a fascinating experience. My "day job" keeps me so busy, I usually only have time to visit this blog, viewfromtheisland, streetlevel, and a few others. The commenting I do on most articles and the main blog is "cut and paste", which I know puts me in disrepute with many. I wish I had more time for "live" commentary, but if you knew what I did, you would be amazed that I get around TH as much as I do.
I know your 10 days isn't up yet, but please do let me know how you like the Browning once you have had a chance to try it out.

Now how did I miss you all?

We really need to get TH to do a conference of us denziens.

steveegg

You know, I stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel but because I was getting up at 4am to work before heading out, I really needed my sleep and didn't go to any of the parties. It is very likely that we bumped into each other at some point though. I was everywhere.

VirginiaP

At least you cut and paste your own stuff. Unlike the paulbots who are always c&p'ing lewrockwell. Besides the arguments are so repetitious, why not cut and paste? And I also have a very time consuming day job. I do this when I get brief openings during the day.

Phil

I saw on the other thread where you told Brian you were picking up the Browning on Thurs., I hope you like yours as much as I do mine. Look forward to hearing about it once you've had a chance to try it out.

VirginiaP

Yeah I can't wait. Just my luck the price of .22LR ammo will go through the roof.

Like I said

Walmart, Federal 550 value pack, $9.88, can't beat it. I know ammo is going up, the range has already raised their prices, Walmarts here have not yet.

Isn't that kind of an oxymoron?

About the last place I'd expect to get a good night's sleep is the Hard Rock.

Seriously, we probably passed each other a few times. I'm horrid at face recognition, and not much better at social settings, but you should've come down for at least part of the Hard Rock party.

thanks PPhil

It's interesting to find out firsthand what goes on at these conventions. Pretty neat meeting Hugh and Dean and LaShawn I bet. I really like LaShawn in particular.

ps

Your report makes me ponder what I've written in the past - entries and comments. Most are terrific and funny;) but some are pretty caustic. And funny. Oops. Oh well. Some folks will only remember the nastier ones I guess.

one of the good guys?

You sure HH really knows who you are? haha. You hold an opposite philosophy of political "success" than HH. Third party with principles v. just "winning".

ScarletP

I met Dean, Eric Egland introduced me, but he blew me off. I talked with Hugh during commercial break and joked with LaShawn about her name being mispelled on her badge which she hadn't noticed. She's a very cheery person, as is MKH. Hugh is definitely the hub of the entire operation and is highly respected by all. He's an affable guy among many affable people. It makes for a fun environment. TH is anything but boring. Pajamas Media had a good thing going there too.

ScarletP

On HH and disagreements. Hugh doesn't seem to care that people disagree with him but doesn't like vulgarity and obtuseness. No one does. This is a very open platform. Besides, TH also provides a platform for the idiots to show the world that they are idiots. I tend to poke fun at those kinds of people but I never attack someone just because they disagree with me. Have I ever called Joe (the McCain guy) names? We disagree on almost everything (he's such a moving target) but it remains civil. I think Hugh loves the give and take and it is good for traffic. I didn't take his greeting as an endorsement of my views so much as his being courteous and classy. I am hardly a thorn in his side.

sheik

Thanks for the feed back. I had a lot of fun. I realized that you were busy. I try not to be a pain but sometimes....

Tasers, tranq darts,

What doesn't Katie carry? :-)
