CLINTON UNHINGED -- Prize please

RE: As LFR's owner, I'm offering the first person to tell me when a Republican accused President Clinton of being obsessed with bin Laden a mystery prize of incredible worth.

I'm here to collect my prize. Although the Republicans did waylay Clinton's series of anti-terrorist bills in 1996 and repeatedly called chemical markers in explosives "a phoney issue" (see: http://www.cnn.com/US/9607/30/clinton.terrorism/), a month before Clinton left office Robert Oakley, Reagan's Ambassador for counterterrorism stated "Overall, I give [the Clinton Administration] very high marks" and "The only major criticism I have is the obsession with Osama".

If you do a search for "Robert Oakley" "Osama" "obession" you will find numerous texts that validate this.

We Have A Winner

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I didn't know that Robert Oakley existed but it's there. I should've said that the prize was for the person who could name a group of GOP politicians rather than just a Republican but a deal's a deal.

Your mystery prize of incredible value" is my heartfelt congratulations for a job well done.

BTW, stop back often & bring your friends with.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

Dear Sir,

You have, knowingly or not, confused prize with praise. That is, you can congratulate someone and give them a prize or congratulate someone and not give them a prize but congratulations in and of itself is not a prize. Congratulations, heartfelt or otherwise, is synonymous with kudos and other verbal praise while a prize ---mystery or otherwise--- is a tangible.

As an adjective, your congratulations may prized but in this case I must say it feels somewhat dishonorable, even, perhaps, deceptive, and I imagine most readers of your prize offer, would tend to agree.

You and I are, no doubt, on different sides of the political spectrum but our love of liberty is mutual. As, I hope, is our appreciation of fairness, honor and integrity.
