now how do we make trackbacks work?

Well, they're just kinda broken right now. They're on the todo list though.

New to Town Hall. Moved over from BlogSpot. I like your vision and format. I have really a question more than a comment. I have written a couple of Opnion pieces, hit the Submit button, and have not seen or heard from them again? Are they submitted and judged before they are posted. If so, do I get notified of the decision.
Second, if I want to link my blog to some others in hopes that they will check me out, how do I do that?

I can't find my blog by searching for it, but by typing in the address it shows. I also have yet to see my blog get posted in the catagories I created it for: Second Amendment, Media and Culture etc.

Should and can I delete my blog and set it up again?

The Op-Ed system needs some work still. I'll update with progress in my blog as the issues are resolved. As far as linking goes, we allow you to provide links to other blogs/sites using the Blog Roll feature in your blog setup screen. On the right of my blog you'll notice a link to Josue's Townhall Blog using that system. We are working on getting trackbacks fixed so that when you post about another blog that supports trackback pings, the site will automatically notify that blog that you have posted and register a trackback. This includes all Townhall Content & Blogs.

We are in the process of redoing the blog directory as right now it is unwieldy (we are pleasantly surpised by the number of blogs created on the site so soon, and weren't adequately prepared to deal with it yet.) Advancements will be made soon though, and it should be easier to find your blog in the directory. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Permalinks - Each headline on the defailt page should be linked to that entry's permanent page, not the default page. This is how all blogs work.

Home Link - there is no "main" or "home" link on the blog. Usually, the title of a blog will be a hyperlink that returns readers to the blog's front page.

I think prominently identifying Townhall blogs as a "beta" site (which it is) until many of these very basic issues were working would have made expectation a lot more reasonable. This would have contributed to the site's ultimate success. GMAIL is still technically in BETA, despite years of reliable and mostly trouble-free service.

People expect live production sites to work. Any explanation as to why they don't is simply an excuse. I know you are working with what you were given, and doing the best you can, but I just felt like venting.

Great ideas, and good feedback. I'll get ahead of Chris in telling you that the two items you reported are now fixed.

As Chris has said, comments and feedback are always welcome, and we are commited to paying attention. So, your venst are always welcome...

At this point, we are trying to put our energies into making the Townhall.com experience the best possible for conservatives everywhere, so just hang on--its going to be an awesome ride!

Josue and Chris -- both items are now fixed. I'm amazed at the fast response. Pardon my earlier snarkiness, and keep up the great work!

P.S. - is there an easy way to change the blog template from the one I picked when I first signed up? If not, you might want to add it to the "to do" list. Not critical, but it would be nice.

One minor issue with the new fix that turns the title into a hyperlink to the main page: looks like it changes the color of the heading, which causes problems with some of the templates - like Josue's (http://josue.townhall.com/), where the title sort of becomes invisible. Probably just a matter of tweaking the style sheets for the affected templates. Thanks!

Good eye on the stylesheet issue Techlizard. We'll get that fixed in the morning.

As far as the template change goes, I'll throw that on the todo list. There are a couple of other priority things in front of it this week, but we may see that out before the weeks up.
