My John Hancock Moment

Saltwater

I commend you sir!!

When I signed up here at townhall....i did not know what to use, so i used jasonhudson @ townhall even my location of where I live.

My wife goes...gee you might as well give them the address and phone#. I dont care much, If we get put away for telling the truth, or being like diciples of Christ...I guess I will be 1st to go.

Rock On!!

Thanks for the kind words, Jason.

When I started here I wasn't sure how to sign up either. I chose the Saltwater moniker because I had used it in the past (CB handle - How's that for dating myself?), besides it conveyed a part of my history in which I still take pride.
Shortly thereafter, I thought about changing my posting name, but I was starting to establish myself, and didn't want to confuse the few readers I had. My hats off to Sgt Stryker, a great many of Bdubya's followers had to readjust their thinking caps when he made the change (myself included).

John Hancock Moment

You have stepped up to the plate, Saltwater, and are to be commended! I live in the little Mexican village noted in my bio and can say with all hubris, I am the only Dawn in town!

You will always be Saltwater to me! It fits you perfectly, and knowing your real name makes you even more of a friend!

Saltwater

My compliments on your decision. Your reasoning is impeccable!

Personally, I am having a ball having a nom de plume. Never had one before. I didn't even have a CB in my younger days so I don't have that to rely upon. I just like to learn and I did with your post. My thanx!

Salutes to you, Dennis P. O'Neil,

AKA Slatwater. I like having our actual names included. It means we're standing tall and unafraid and lends itself to our sincerity and credibility. Glad to meetcha Dennis.

Bobbie A. Kelley (:-

Well done

Fellow dudemeister of the Briny Deep.
I on the other hand have been arguing with TownHall for two years about being unable to change any of the data on my settings page.
And was recently told, don't hold breath while waiting for any changes from the programmers.

Oh well

Gar Swaffar

Thank you, Dawndawn

to have you consider me on your list of friends is an honor. You have already earned a place in my heart with your posts and life story. Although I will admit to a slight tinge of jealousy over your seagoing adventures on a yacht.

Mrs. AL (Always Learning)

Keep your nom de plume, it describes the essence of the person we have come to enjoy interacting with here at Townhall. I dare say that if we were to meet for tea and cakes, I would probably still address you as Mrs. AL even knowing your given name.

Dearest Bobbie

That is the purpose of our efforts here at Townhall, to spread the word and shine the light of truth into those dark corners. The only support we have for our positions are our credibility and the sincerity of our convictions.

I would take this opportunity to publicly thank you for your efforts on behalf of the Band of Bloggers. Although you seldom post on your own blog - except when something REALLY light a fire under your chair - you do yeoman's work behind the scenes keeping the blogger list and message board up to date. You are doing God's work by helping the rest of us keep informed.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Band of Bloggers, check Bobbies page for information on signing up:

Thanks, boaz, and in full disclosure

the flakiness of the TH system was another reason I decided to edit all my post rather than chance messing with the settings page. Let's be honest - the blog software here has all the consistency of cafeteria oatmeal. I was afraid all my hard work would suddenly be authored by Neptune's Demon Spawn.

Salty Dennis P.

Well, now we know for sure what a set of stones you're sporting. Well played, sir. You have gained another level of respect in my eyes.

Thanks for the honorable mention for the idea behind the name change...I don't know that I will be following suit just yet, as I have a fondness for the nom de plume similar to MRS.AL.

Keep shining that light, brother. We need it's antiseptic effect in this very septic world.

Sgt Stryker, such praise

coming from you means a great deal to me. Thank you.

Yes, your posting name change played in my thinking about how to make the move. I remember seeing Sgt.Stryker start popping up in blog comments and clicking the link. As I started reading, I began to think, "Hey! I just saw this a couple of days ago. Who the heck does this guy think he's fooling using someone else's words?" I finally looked at the URL and realized why the material looked so darned familiar.

Like you and Mrs. AL, I am also very fond of my Saltwater persona and will continue to use it for essays and comments. I am just adding my real name at the end of each essay.

Saltwater

I have always signed my Blog Posts. Georgetwin is a nickname is was given some time ago. Maybe Janet Van Dyke will put us in a cell together ;!

Saltwater - aka

Dennis P. O'Neil. I am honored that you credit the discussion on my post with your momentous decision. As you write here, it is the words of the Founders that are the true impetus for that decision. In the words of certain talk show hosts, "You, sir, are a Great American". Stand tall. We will stand with the signers of the Declaration. Hell, we may even find the need for a new Declaration.

(bob's my uncle)

Wish we could "bold" or highlight on comments.

Saltwater

Well golly, let's meet for tea and cakes on July 4th somewhere just ouside D.C. Then we can go for a little protest walk and work off the calories!

Living in foreign surroundings

does not lend itself to my full disclosure on TH...although a few of Bobbie’s Bloggers have my first and last name. A quick search reveals a proud military past, complete with picture.

For my family’s sake as well as mine, OPSEC and force protection must prevail while overseas.

However, I salute you Mr. O’Neil.

Dennis

Way to go, sir. I've always held the belief that whatever it is that I write I am proud of.

If there be any that would seek to persecute me for my ideas, let them come on. I have had better opposition in my life than anyone arguing ideas could present. My dad taught me, "Always remember who you are and where you came from, and never apologize for either."

Your decision is a sign of a sincere heart and a reasoning mind. Congrats.

Glenn Flowers

What is in a name?

Well, on some blogs, sites I have phillyfantic, some I have Glenn Koons, some I have K.Glenn Koons. It all depends on how tired, or grouchy I am about the subject matter. Nothing wrong at all with signing your real name and telling all that as Luther said, 'God help me , here I stand.' Drop by my newest Salty or whoever you want to be.

My compliments, Saltwater

I'm not ready to fling open the raincoat and expose myself just yet, but the idea does have merit.

My "handle" (Garnet92) goes back years to when I was active on ClubLexus and was driving a '92 Lexus SC400 (color, Garnet Red) - thus, Garnet92. Thinking I might run across some of my many friends here, I decided to keep the screen name (haven't seen hide nor hair of any of them).

Your step does make me think ... it is something that I will consider.

Regardless, a well done post by any other name is still a great post - and yours are always worthwhile, however they're signed.

Saltwater

Neptunes Demon Spawn - isn't that a poster over on the HuffPost?

Georgetwin

Sounds fine with me. You bring the cards and I'll bring the cribbage board. I won't go down that lane about our former Governor ... except to note that it took a while for her to leave - and some reports attributed it to having to pack all that Williams Lectric Shave and Aqua Velva.

Robert's nephew, John

Yes, those words, and the import of their meaning, struck home during that discussion.
The decision was made for me in that Philadelphia hall almost 233 years ago.

Mrs. AL (Always Learning)

Thank you for the invite, but I must regretfully decline the opportunity to spend some quality protest time with you and your husband unit. I have already committed myself for that day to quality protest time with the grandchildren at the local event.

INTHE NOW

Thank you, Sir. I understand your position. Your first consideration must be the welfare of your family while overseas. I am fortunate not having to take geographical location (and geopolitical matters) into account - at least for now.

Haven't heard much

from Homeland Security Ditz Napolitano lately....
