RESETTING THE CONSTITUTION

The call for a reset would be a most excellent avenue for the change needed.
If you expect Maobama and The New American Aristocracy to go quietly into that good night though....

Quietly or not so quietly, indictments for criminal activity would soon follow their termination.
Screwing up America does not go unrewarded.
Thanks for the comment.

i blame no one who loves, truly LOVES America as you and I do.
Ron Paul is a good man, as far as politicians go, and he does love America.
A good video for Ron Paul. I don't agree with his take on the Iraq war. Sometimes it is up those who can to do what is right for the oppressed in the world. Sometimes.

And a reminder that there is a way - indeed, the only way - to truly return the country to the state intended by the framers. This will be a difficult road - like Gar said, the usurpers will not go quietly and much of what needs to be done will require political support within the states. I believe that the first step - and one that will serve as a warning - is to THROW THE BUMS OUT in 2010. And I mean ALL of them who have trampled on the Constitution - democrat AND republicans alike.

I am sorry, what is the Constitution again? Is that the really old paper thingy that every one keeps walking all over and the other people just keep putting in the shredder?
Good post.

I agree, ALL of them need to go, with a very few exceptions, so just make it a clean sweep to be safe. Then indict the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Rengel, Lewis, Waters, etc. on federal violations of their oath and the Constitution.
In the meantime, "inspire" the states to do their contitutional duty as the creator of the monster.
Thanks for your comments.

Yep, it's that old raggedy piece of parchment with the faded scribbling all over it. You know, that dead and stinking restriction of the elite federal monarchy.
I can still read it though. And that spells trouble for them.
You can read it, I know.
Thanks for the support.

Constitutional usurpation
earnestly began when FDR bypassed congress by stacking the Supreme Court with judges favorable to the New Deal and “second bill of rights”. The ensuing battle seems to be nearing the apex.
Our federal system of government and the monolithic bureaucratic entity that runs it has simply become too powerful. Add the media, unions, entitlement recipients, and increasing number of quasi-nationalized financial and manufacturing institutions and you have the perfect storm. Entrenched incumbents, bureaucrats, and their supporters do as they please with little accountability.
Without congressional term limits, the States are the last hope for the Constitution and capitalism.

In my humble opinion the 17th ammendment, ratified in 1913, was the most serious violation of the intent of the founders up to that point. It made the Senate electable by the people instead of the state legislatures and ended the states' representation in Washington. It made the senate just a smaller, unequally apportioned version of the House.
We are of a single mind though. It is now or never for America. Now being possibly a year, maybe less.
Thanks for your comments, they are appreciated.

Glenn, You Know Where I Stand
"We the People" must regain control of the federal government. The 16th (allows federal income tax) and the 17th (direct election of US Senators) amendments MUST be repealed. Many federal laws MUST be repealed (Welfare, etc.).
I do not believe the Obamanites would do much more than "fume and rant". In that I disagree with Gar Swaffer. The Left never was anything but a "paper tiger". When faced with "armed opposition" and with no "armed forces" supporting them, they will back down. They do not want to die. They do not have, as part of their moral belief, the concept that there are some things worth dying for.
But be prepared, the Revolution (I hope!) must start at the ballot box. And it will take years.

I agree totally.
I watched Reagan's 1964 GOP Convention speech again. I need that inspiration every so often.
He talks about never backing down.
Moses, Jesus, the Founders, the Greatest Generation, etc. "Will we start now? Will we decide this nation is not worth our most supreme efforts?"
Not me. I'm with ole Pat Henry, Liberty or breathless.
Thanks for the support and comments. Much appreciated.

Good post.
Thankfully, my home state of Texas is trying to reassert the supremacy of the Constitution in its dealings with federal gummint. Rick Perry seems to have grown a set in the past couple of years...finally.

I apologize to everyone for the late response to your comments. I have had my right arm in a sling again and have been taking a fairly powerful anti-inflammatory and Vicodin.
The Doc says he thinks my typing habits are causing the pain in my arm.
Ya' know, we could wait till next year and hope to sweep the building with the dome clean of riffraff, but I am sorely concerned that that will be too late.
I will post a list of all fifty state legislature website URLs, most have the E-mail addresses for the legislators. I have sent my Draft Resolution to the Houase and Senate minority and majority leaders of 47 of the states, near 200 e-mails. I've had a response from one, the Senate Maj Leader of Georgia who is all for this type of action.
Craw,
The Governor is, probably, a kickback kinda' guy normally. Sometimes it takes a crisis to bring out the man in the man. (Truman comes to mind)
Perry may just come into his own through this.

Nice blog
Glenn, thanks for the comment you posted on my own blog, Paitsel Place.
I agree with what you wrote in "Resetting the Constitution." Since Marbury v Madison, most Americans have had it drilled into them that the courts are the only arbiters of whether something in constitutional or not. They forget that the states have an important role to play, as well.
Unfortunately, they have been bribed with government handouts which account for large percentages of your average state budget. The tradeoff, of course, is that Washington gets to hoard more and more power to itself - and the states are unlikely to complain because they depend on federal revenues like junkies waiting for another fix.
With projected debt levels and a Federal Reserve that is increasingly out of control, all of that might change in the not-too-distant future. I don't relish the idea that we're facing an economic meltdown, but if anything will get us back to the Founders' understanding of federalism, that would be it.

Yes, I believe the people are really getting the idea now. And, there are now 35 states with resolutions barring gov't activity, in some way, inside their border.
If we can get all 35 to pass the same resolution, we would REBOOT the union.
Thank You, sir.
