The coming Iran War.

A Closer Look

WELCOME to Townhall.

What you say is only half of the real truth. Starting in 1998, with President Clinton's speech at the Pentagon, the case was being made for war with Iraq. Clinton said, "The UNSCOM inspectors believe that Iraq still has stockpiles of chemical and biological munitions, a small force of Scud missiles, and the capacity to restart quickly its production program and build many, many more."

From then on, DEMOCRATS made more and more demands that Iraq be invaded.

Read 20 pages of quoted speeches from the Washington Post, all by Democrats, calling for war with Iraq.

Bush did not start the war drums, he was the one pressured into the war by DEMOCRATS.

The Truth Is Out There.

Glenn,

You bring up a good point, but Clinton was not a proponent of invading Iraq. Democrats in congress, yes. Neocon think tanks yes. After the incident in Mogadishu with the killing of U.S Rangers and the images of their dead bodies being drug through the streets. Clinton did not have the stomach for a long and protracted war. Thus the entire Bosnia Campaign was conducted from the air and Clinton only committed ground troops under NATO.

I am not a democrat, but invading Iraq did not become a national priority, "let's get him before he gets us" until Bush came into office.

Further, I was not looking to lay blame for the Iraq misadventure. I was comparing rhetoric between then and now and drawing parallels that indicate a war with Iran is coming.

Thank you for reading my blog, I enjoy reading yours.
