Skep

Sshhhhhh!! Don't wake them up!!And please don't let them know there are parallels in history!
Hmmmm ...I wonder if Obama ever read a book of history...I guess he skipped chapters, anyway.
Beautiful job! Love your stuff!

Now I'm really depressed.....

but this was a good post Skep. Someday, a military coup may be necessary to save this country. The inmates are running the asylum.

Maybe

If Obama gets in that might be enough for the Army to rise up! :-)) I can't imagine there is a sserviceman (or woman) who would vote for him!

Not Only Depressed, davecatbone, But...

also worried.

This is an excellent post Skep41, I just wish it didn't seem so "today's news".

However, we don't want the military doing a "coup". We want the citizens (including old farts like me) to rise up and reclaim the country.

Remember that during the Revolutionary War approx. 30% of the country were Patriots, approx. 30% supported the King, and 40% sat on the sidelines and watched.

Gibbon is clearly mad as a hatter

A man completely out of sync with Wilsonian thought on political evolution and lacking the nuance of modern progressive thought.

Obama turned back the Russian tanks without even having to leave his surfboard. His few, but I suspect heavily nuanced words with Maliki, has the Iraqi president practically throwing us out of the country.

Gibbon obviously lacked the modern perspective of open borders, diversity and multi-culturalism. Hence his judgmental approach to the "change" which is inevitable whenever a "spirit of the age" has been achieved. Alaric was merely the instrument of that Wilsonian "change".

Skep, Dave

Skep- Great read...There is a troll who uses the name Egibbon...Groan.
Dave, I'm with you and the military coup. Let's get the guns and ammo ready because I see things the same way.

Nee

Not exactly assimilating into Chicago are we? HaHaHa!

Captures the mood..

... pretty well. Perhaps there will be a Chinese or Indian thoughtbroadcaster in a thousand years who will be making similar observations on the decline of that day's global superpower...

No Military Coups Please!

We need someone who has his head screwed on and renounces the PC baloney but not a military dictatorship. The calls for a coup are heartfelt and come from our angry frustration with the incompetence and corruption of the elite ruling class but instituting Class Warfare would be the end. We have to preserve the values of Democracy. A revival of the idea that there is an objective right and wrong, that you get back what you put out, that you have responsibilities which accompany your freedoms, that self-interest is not the only thing that's important; that is the coup we need to pull off. What we have now is not working. People will soon be looking for answers.

this is why i hated college

NO degree of success will go undiagnosed!

and give peace a chance. OR ELSE!

I'd have to agree...

...on being very hesitant to start looking at a military coup as an answer. I'm not thrilled with the way the federal government operates, but I'm nowhere near ready to simply throw it away in hopes that a military coup would be better.

There's a lot of hard work to be done to get within a light year of where the nation started in its overall view of a federal government of limited powers, and it's still probably overly optimistic to think that my grandchildren will see marked improvement in their lifetimes (and my kids are now 7 and 4), but I'd rather have a drawn out victory through the political process and education than the uncertainty a coup would bring.

Okay

Maybe not a coup, but something to shake the sense back into people that it takes effort to keep what we have.

Sarge- I will never assimilate inot anything liberal, ever!!

I'm with you

on the "No Coup" decision. We can't destroy what we have in the hopes of rebuilding from the ground up. Instead, we just need to get the predators out of the leadership positions some have held for near 50 years. We need to fumigate the building with the dome by voting out every incumbent member of congress and never, ever re-electing any of them. Instead, elect politically inexperienced candidates who would serve the people with honor and zeal. If they don't, sweep them out next election. It is we, the voters of all the parties, who have the power to fire Ms. Pelosi and Dingy Harry Reid. LET'S DO IT!!

Great post skep, keep 'em coming.
