Is this Forgiveness?

Not everything is black and white

I am sorry to hear that you have chosen to let the life of this Saint to cause you to leave the church. . .but is "The Church" merely one Saint. Have you truly delved into the beauty of Orthodoxy or just merely touched the surface. No true believer would turn to heresy if they new the treasuer they held. Please forgive me I do not mean to sound accusing, condesending, or anything negative which unfortuanelty is very easy to get out of an email when you can't hear the tone of one's voice.
As for the Saint one could argue that perhaps he did not wish to be the first to throw the stone, but the truth is, none of us know exactly what he was thinking. But this we do know he was a man of God and God's ways are not our ways.
Remember the woman that stood before the mob who wished to condemn her for her past by stoning her, after all that was the law was it not? Did Jesus allow it simply because it was the law? No for He knew that God's law (His law, which is above man's) is to show mercy. For in mercy lives are truly changed. Find the story of this woman and learn about the kind of witness she became for God, now that is justice. As for this man who was hidden the story continues that he became a monk, pursuing God. Are you to be the first to throw a stone not even at this man, but at the Saint that lived as Christ lived.
Go with God my friend, and may God show you the same mercy Dionysios showed, when you sin against the almighty.

Does God see a difference ...

Thank you for the comment. I do not take it as accusing, condescending or negative. I feel confident in writing that you only want what is best. However, on this issue we do not see eye to eye.

Does God see a difference between one who commits adultery and one who commits murder? I hope so. Otherwise, He is an evil pernicious God, with no common sense, and one I'd rather not believe in.

There is a world of difference between saving a woman who committed adultery from an unjust punishment - being stoned to death - and acting to ensure that a confessed murderer is not caught by the lawful authorities.

On another you issue you bring up briefly, I do not believe that life in the Catholic Church means one is following a "heresy". The Church must breath with two lungs. One is on the East and one is in the West. It is unfortunate that today's situation means these two lungs breath separately, but that doesn't mean that one should be expunged because it is diseased.

Take care, my friend.
