A Place to Start

In most classes at the college, any professor that engages in political discussion is off-topic. They are not doing their job.

To tell a student not to present their viewpoint on a topic when the professor has specifically asked for viewpoints is wrong, and is certainly in conflict with the ideals of academic freedom, open discussion, and learning that most institutions of higher learning ascribe to. Unfortunately, this is what happens all too frequently when liberal professors do not know how to respond in a thoughtful manner, usually because they do not have a leg to stand on.
