I would like to agree with you, but I suspect Royal will win exactly because of her touchy feely brand of socialist pap.

The French love being taken care of, and a maternal figure is just the medicine they are looking for to reassure them as their countryside burns.

Another side of France.

A prime difference between Americans and the French is their willingness to put up with crap. The French tolerate way too much of what cannot be tolerated. The way both deal with it is very different as well. Americans are way too nice of people. Even when doing dirty work, they prefer to get it doine quickly and humanely. The French don't mind torture and cruelty.
