Jihadist Protection Agency

How is this going to protect our soldiers? What had we done when the enemy was cutting of heads? If these Senators don't wish to protect us they need to take a hike. I'm tired of cowards (McCain not included) telling me what is right or wrong. Mr. McCain needs to step aside from this debate. His view is skewed as a victim of Vietnamese evil. I would ask the Senators what would they do if they had captured someone who had information regarding a plot to kill their child? How far would they go? Using the Geneva Convention provides a "legitimacy" to the terrorist. Either fight this war or go home. No more mamby-pamby BS.

We have to treat them well

Because if we don't, they might mistreat our boys. They may refuse to do a prisoner exchange. They might even refuse to allow the Red Cross access to their POW camps. We must have the rules of war or the next thing you know, someone might start indescriminate bombing of civilian targets or use civilians as human shields while they attack us.

For heavens sake. We have to have the Geneva Convention or all of these things could well occur!

Flag

You were right, this really is a companion piece to my essay. It looks like we're on the same page, bro, just different tacks to the same philosophical port.

Golden rule

Nice one, Flag.

McCain can perhaps be forgiven for his mindlessness since he was tortured himself at the hands of the North Vietnamese, (and taunted by the antiwar rantings of his own countrymen, thanks John Kerry), but the rest of them need to shut their collective pie holes.

The sooner we all grow up and accept that the Geneva Convention doesn't apply here and that the jihadist's have no intention of complying with it anyway the better.

Besides, call me a strict conformist but doesn't the GC also specify that anyone caught out of uniform can be shot on sight as a spy? In that case, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Let's roll with it...

It's no different than all the fuss

about the Gitmo detainees having "rights". If they were in their own home countries the only 'right' they would have is a quick beheading.

I just wish those horrible congress people we have would recognize the RIGHTS of our OWN SOLDIERS. The rights they have under their OWN Constitution, that they keep denying these legitimate fighting heroes.

They fight for the rights of everyone except their own. Disgusting!

I want to know

If we are going to give them these rights, how long till people killed in battle will be filing wrongful death claims? I was just catching a bus on the battle field when the fighting swirled around me. Then a guy dropped his grenade launcher and I picked it up so I wouldn't trip over it. AND HE SHOT ME! War being fought by Miranda rules. Can't you just wait?

And, if you don't know me well enough yet, yes that was satire.

Link Doesn't Work

Your link to the Wording of the Geneva Convention is dead. Path not found etc

Waiting

Its been a couple of days. Getting a little writers cramp?

To all:

James Biga: I have a new post today for you. Enjoy!

Craig C: Thanks for the heads up! I have a new link to the conventions that now works.

MacZed: Thanks for the visit and for being a Flag Bearer. I like that one! I will visit you ASAP!

Terrible Trio

must go down in flames... McCain and his gang have been holding the Senate hostage.

It's time for the GOP to put them out of business.

Great post!
