Magical Thinking

rycK,
I am often amused at your references to the statists drug-induced state of mind as an explanation for thier ongoing denial and insanity. No doubt some of them are on drugs. But I think most of it can be explained by a retardation of their cognitive develomment resulting from early indoctrination.

Specifically, as children we all go through a period in our lives where we believe we can cause things to happen just by thinking about them. You've probably heard this called "magical thinking." It is a natural phase that we all experience and evenmtually grow out of. However, residuals of this dominance of thought persist for many leftists well into adult life. If we mix this characteristic with a little anger or guilt (classic liberal staples), we have a potent brew for anxiety and delusion — especially if leftist knows little or nothing about economics and the financial environment, or whatever the topic du jour happens to be.

Krugman engages in magical thinking on a daily basis for all to read in the New York Slimes. But he is just a crappy writer and a hack journalist. Our narcissistic man-child president lives in a 24-7 bubble of magical thinking, as evidenced by domestic agenda, but more dangerously in his foreign policy from his dealings with a nuclear Iran to a resurgent Russia. "If I just think about it really hard and wish it to be so, I can make it happen" So he presses the magical "reset" button with our enemies.

What in the hell is a reset button? Normal grown-ups understand that this is a childish and dangerous concept. But the man-child speaks the language of the cognitively stunted left. He uses the concept of a reset button as a visulalization tool.

We have a feckless self-absorbed squirrel in the Whitehouse who has surrounded himself with vindictive nasty little leftists who are reflections of himself and his magical thinking. Scary stuff.

Keep up the good work.

..a retardation of their cognitive ...

This would be a form of necrosis and not just a result of brain washing it seems to me. The central tendency 'g' should persist at the normal plateau despite threatening mental attacks by the environment.

My drug-crazed references are a collective condemnation of the CA degenerated society that I was involved in for 26 years. With certain individuals I have known, there is a propensity to 'buy in' to snake charming, leftist politics and other follies that tend to block out alternatives. Thus, these people are stuck in a 'do loop' and cycle.

...mix this characteristic with a little anger or guilt...

Here we agree.

There is a similar argument to be found in the book The Human Predator by K. Ramsland on p 281. Here is presented a theory by Debra Niehoff a chemical reaction that differs among individuals driven by genes and environment. Each person must sort out the effects of the events. Experiences produce chemicals and new experiences are correlated with the past. Thus, experience gets updated. Some people are different and cannot escape being pushed down some avenue of paranoia or worse thus their brain chemistry adjust the brain to the new collective condition and essentially resets the anxiety.

With many, the inability to cope with current events triggers aggression. This what I observed at UCLA, in SF, SUNY, Yale and in the corporate world. Many people would be mild and casual until some topic triggered an instant anger episode [gays, illegal aliens, taxes etc...] and they refused to listen to an opposing argument. Much of this is controlled by imbalances in dopamine and serotonin. As a defense mechanism, the brain can be reset to accommodate these new levels upon an uncomfortable episode.

I can agree with that. BOB is a classic case of an indoctrinated victim of two lousy fathers, a commie advisor, a worthless wandering mother and more. He is an ideological racist, a Jeremiah Wright advocate and acolyte and gets his brain 'reset' by the applause of the left and the admiration of the Swedes and their drooling lackeys in Norway and Europe.

Such persons eventually collide with reality and their predictions and promises turn brown and then they are humiliated. The Corzine Episode must have given him much anguish as his lackeys insist this was not a reflection on him although he campaigned there and Jon put Obama's name first on his bills. VA was secondary.

We face a massive debt that may degrade our currency and perhaps worse and Obama spends wildly in the face of this using the excuse that he has some stimulus that will fix things. His stimulus only supports his expansion of government and gives little spikes to the GDP under the theory of clunkerism.

Obama faces two monsters: unemployment and inflation--either of which can easily topple any government. He may get a double dose in the next two years.

Thanx for the comments, rycK
