Thanks for the great blog
I am beginning to think, like others, that Powell was a mistake.

Colin Powell
General Powell/Secretary Powell achieved credibility with conservatives for 2 reasons: 1) by having outstanding stage presence on national TV and 2) by saying something like, "First we'll cut thm off, then we'll kill them," in a nationally televised briefing regarding Gulf War I.
In retrospect, this was likely a reflection of Gen. Schwartzkopf's views more than Powell's. Since achieving notoriety as a conservative, he has distanced himself from Republican ideas and ideals. In terms of equivocation vs decisiveness he sounds more like John Kerry every day.

Great revelation Gamecock...
...we shouldn't be surprised. Powell is simply coming out of the closet. This is what he's always been, as you point out. But the ingratitude is really sticking in my craw. Powell made history because of the Republican Party as being the 1st Black SecState. Couldn't he show a little appreciation by putting his few differences aside, swallowing his massive pride and simply giving a quick endorsement to the Repub. candidate? Show a little appreciation for all that this GOP has done for him? Just leaves me bewildered and scratching my head Gamecock. What an ingrate this Powell has turned out to be.
Stop by for a visit. Saw your piece on race42008.com, too. How does one post there? DD
