We Will Lose

This article is so very true. It is increasingly apparent that we have become a nation without a backbone. We seek to appease at every turn. I argue constantly with people who see Gitmo and Abu Graeb as the equivalent of the terrorists themselves. Just as the cold war brought out the moral equivalency crowd, we have now the pacifistic extreme left merging with the placating left and the scared to lose their seat republicans. It's truly dishonoring not to hear a Churchill or a Reagan on the horizon (perhaps one will emerge?). But the truly scary part as I see it is the combination of the above with the age in which we live. The 24 hour news cycle, and 15 second sound bite have led to a bumper sticker mentality and very much less reflection and/or historical study. I hope it doesn't turn out as I fear it will- but you know "hope" in this sense is a poor substitute for an informed and patriotic electorate.
