T.R. - Welcome!

First of all, glad to see you here - and looking forward to your blogs in the future! I am a retired public school teacher, and understand your situation. There are more conservative teachers than people think, though, aren't there? In what state do you teach? God bless you, and keep up the good work - there must be more people of conservative values working with our young people, just to provide a balance. Stop by my blog when you have time - I just posted today on the issue of race in this election. Hope you enjoy your time here at TH!

The Right to Vote

I am a high school student and saw that you are a high school teacher, so I have a question for you. My dad has heard on the radio that we really don't have a constitutional RIGHT to vote, that it is a privilege that all Americans should take advantage of. But I don't understand why it's not a right when the 19th Amendment says "The RIGHT of citizens of the United States TO VOTE shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." and the 15th Amendment says "The RIGHT of citizens of the United States TO VOTE shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude--".
Don't both those use the words "right to vote"? So, can you answer this question for me?
