Huckabee
I am a John McCain supporter. I don't know why the conservative media is labeling Huckabee and McCain as Dennis Kucinich wannabes. Nothing could be further from the truth.
You make great points for Huckabee but I am more concerned about spending. Huckabee would be my second option if McCain didn't work. Romney would be third. Hopefully whoever is the nominee we can all get behind during campaign time.

Good post
and Amen to Closet GOP...we can't afford to act like children having a tantrum and not back our nominee.
We may never have a candidate that agrees with us 100%...so will we keep electing dems until we do?
People like Rush, Ann Coulter and Glen Beck are starting to sound like the moveon.org of the Right.

It is interesting to me
that individuals who have been raised on Rush Limbaugh, literally weaned onto conservatism through his mentorship, of sorts, now turn and start railing against him because he stands up for true conservative principles. Because he says he won't support a watering-down of what took years to build, he is all of a sudden equated with Ann Coulter?
I completely disagree with this.
Additionally, many of us who do not support Huckabee's nomination are Christian people, including many in conservative media. Nobody that I know or have listened to take issue with Huckabee's Christianity; in fact, it's the only desirable quality he brings to the table. His record on conservative issues speaks for itself regardless of how he would like the record spun.

Unity and divisions
I just started blogging two days ago as an outlet to what I call the Conserva-phobic syndrome of the left and others in our party. This post is 100% spot on about how talk-radio mirrors the liberal attack machine. Name one thing John McCain has done conservative. You can't because before he was for the troops he was obstructing many aspects of the Bush Iraq policy. The only thing his support would prove anyway is his level of patriotism. But the question was name something he has done conservative. Now name the liberal things he does on a daily basis to sell us out. There is nothing honorable about the gang of 14, amnesty, speech suppresion, higher taxes, selling a bogus climate change theory, and giving terrorist captured in armed combat against US soldiers equal rights. Huckabee is the last best hope for conservatism the Reagan conservatism they speak of. People forget the late Gippers short comings but they mirror the complaints about Huckabee. Are setting up for the 2012 Romney campaign they won't be a force by then. Huckabee is the Ronald Wilson Reagan of our times McCain is Gerald Ford!!!

Are you kidding?
The only reason that the press mentioned Huckabee's credentials as a preacher, is that other than his time as Governor, being a preacher and loosing huge amounts of weight are the only things he has ever done.
Mormons have a lay ministry, so being a bishop is not a job, it is unpaid service. If there is religious bias, it is towards the mormon faith. Compare the number of negative articles, blogs, or news interviews aimed at the mormons, to the number of negative comments about Methodists or any other religious group. Come to think of it, I don't remember hearing any. What a strange world, it is not politically correct to "hate" any group but the conservative, hard working, family loving mormons. Where does this hatred coming from?
