Why must being an independent mean she's "afraid to let anyone know what she thinks"?? I would think being an independent simply means you're not going to vote strictly based on a candidate's association with a certain party, but rather based on their values and stances on issues that are most important to you. I think the fact that she is a speech writer for GOPs and prefers to be referred to as a "conservative strategist" says a lot more about her political views than what party she's registered with.
