good and huge

It is a good game. Few RPGs are so expansive, allowing for a lot of playtime. And there are many options for playing your own way.

My main gripe as a conservative is the Hollywood treatment of religion. The only religion in the game that I've encountered is some dumb kooks worshiping a bomb.

Religion

I'll have to disagree to an extent with the critique of religion. The bomb worshipping idiots were definitely taken from Bill Maher view of religion, but there is also a small, respectable-seeming chapel in Rivet City.

More tellingly, though less explicit, is the fact that the scientists working on their philanthropic "save the world" project were clearly familiar with the Bible. One of their project heads even has a personal favorite quote from the Book of Psalms.

interesting

I haven't gotten to the chapel yet. I look forward to finding that.

I forgot about the Psalm. At the very beginning of the game, right? I Googled to find out which Psalm it is, but can't find it. I guess I'll have to start a new character sometime.

Agreed

I have to agree there is a bit of a bias, though that bias was there int he first two installments as well. (And even in the ancient precursor, "Wasteland" I played on the Commodore 64 back int he distant past.) So I suppose they could cop out and claim the politics was just an "homage" to the original.

But it is quite a fun game. My only complaints (besides the bit of political bias) are the small number of songs on the radio station (leading to too many repeats), and the strangely Oblivion-like feel (I know, Bethesda made both... but still.) It is just a little too similar, enough so that I keep expecting invisible vampires in the sewers, or to wake up having Lucien offer me Dark Brotherhood membership.

Otherwise, a very nice way to pass the time. And some incredible scenery to explore. (Especially since my last three offices are within the area of the game. Though my home is just a bit too far northeast to visit. And my old home is too far north.)
