SHould have had this election hog-tied three months ago.
It is rare for the same party to hyold the WH with these types of Econ, War issues beyond the second term.
Not a good sign either.(for Bam Bam)

I keep thinking the same thing. With all the conditions, not even considering Bush's low ratings, Obama should have had no trouble.
He is running against a 2 term president, in a relatively unpopular and long war, with low approval numbers, whose party controlled congress for 6 of the 8 years, and who is facing an economic problem of some severity (according to the media, anyway). On top of that, McCain is not a popular pick, and there was at one time considerable dissent in the Republican party.
The only difficulties he should have are congress' low ratings while held by his own party.
Given all that, he should have been leading by 15 or 20 in July. Instead he was lucky to get 8 or 9 with 24 hour media coverage and it evaporated instantly once that nonstop coverage ended.
Not good signs.

Unfortunately I missed the debate due to some personal matters that came up (family pet passed away and my wife and I had to do grave duty in the dark), so I did not see the performance.
McCain (or Palin) really needs to start attacking Obama on his record. he can say whatever he wants, but the proof is in the record. Did he act in any way that matches his statements? Or did he vote as a die hard liberal and then run as a moderate?
Really, McCain should have been doing that all along, but he seems to have little taste for attacking Obama. So I suppose it falls to Palin to do so.
