Comment on: Middle American Radical

For good or ill, God has done this.

You are wrong.

Not everything that happens on Earth is made or decided by God.

The results of this election is not made by God. It is made by man... especially men and women who don't really believe in the Real Presence of a Living God!

Americans have made it to themselves.

His Will, not our own

Throughout these final days before the election, so many people wrote how they thought Obama was AntiChrist; and that to stop him from gaining power we had to elect McCain. But if you read scripture, it has to come to pass that things must happen so that the Will of God is done. I'm not saying Obama is AntiChrist (he shares some characteristics of what is described - he may be with a little 'a'); but for us to think we can delay what God has already pre-ordained isn't very logical. Don't get me wrong, I didn't vote for Obama. I believe this country should have a limited government, a free market, and stand for freedom. And I'm just as frustrated with people for not seeing through the lies and trading their freedoms/liberties for money.

But I also do believe that we are living in the end times. And if you look in scripture, our country is not there in any significant capacity. There is a reason - perhaps Obama will lead us into that. I just keep thinking of what Joel Rosenberg has said countless times, and I'm paraphrasing, 'America is not mentioned in end times prophecy. We don't have a significant role in that time. Everything is set according to prophecy.' Are we heading into that? Only the Lord knows. Pray and tell others the Good News John 3:16!

God's sovereignty is absolute

If anything in the universe happens that God did not expect, that means God is not omniscient. If anything happens that God cannot control, then that means God is not omnipotent. Those are two critical attributes of God that cannot be violated.

Just as the sovereignty of a state ends where the sovereignty of the nation begins, the sovereignty of men ends where the sovereignty of God begins. Our freedom of action is constrained within the broader context of God's universal will.

As for trying to find America in End Times prophecy, that is probably a case of trying to do something with the Bible that it wasn't meant to do. Besides, I don't think we should really want America to have a significant role in those particular events, if they come to pass as some interpret Scripture to teach.

Given over…

Thanks for taking time to comment and for making yourself known. It’s not too great a presumption that we as a nation are being given over for destruction, and we willfully voted for it and now rejoice in it. [Psalm 94:7]
