RECKLESS AND DANGEROUS

The most asinine fool can make a sensible decisions now and then. Who but a man of staggering blindness and stupidity would run up unsustainable deficits during an economic downturn totaling 13% of GDP, and on top of that propose nationalizing medicare-extending its benefits to all Americans-when it's $30 trillion in the hole-and scheduled to go bust in 10 years? When we add to these follies his apologetic foreign policy and the weak image that he projects abroad Obama has already proved himself to be a very reckless and dangerous man.

A Change of Heart?

I've heard that today, in NM, Obama said that we need to do something about the budget, lest we leave our children's children a mountain of debt. If so, this could be a turning point for the better. Our president has, deep down, good sense. He will eventually do the right thing by our kids and grandkids.

EVIL DAYS ARE AHEAD

If the president as you say has "good sense" why then did he release the "torture memos?" If he has "good sense" why has he made the torture issue more important than the war on terror and our national security? If he has good sense why is he planning to fundameantally and foundationally change America by radically growing dependence on government which is destructive to liberty and a nation's moral character and spirit? If he has good sense why is he hellbent on rewarding evil and failure while punishing virtue and success? If he has good sense why in a predatory world with deadly enemies bent on our destruction is he apologizing for America's actions and dangerously projecting an image of weakness. Aristole said: "There is no political greatness without practical wisdom." Four years is too short a time for this poor deluded weak man to grow into a wise, strong and able leader. Providence has bestowed great power on a poor, confused hapless fool to do very bad and foolish things, to lead us into great and terrible peril and wake this nation up. Prepare yourself for the worst, my friend. Evil days are ahead.

A Deadline

Today, with Netanyahu, Obama said that Iran must come around "by the end of the year." If Iran does not stop its nuke-building, then...then what? I'm open to agreeing with you, but I think it's too early to judge the man. My gut tells me we are headed for evil days, just as you say. But my head and heart are trying to "stay positive"! I do agree with what Charles Krauthammer said today on cable TV: Obama's Notre Dame speech was "brilliant," politically brilliant in that he "transcended" the issue with a "Socratic detachment." I watched the whole speech on C-Spann. It was impressive for the way in which Obama took the bull by the horns. He did not back down from his position, but he tried to build a bridge to the other side. The whole place almost was clearly very pro-Obama. I admit, however, that this fact does not vindicate him on the question of the morality of abortion. Anyway, for him, it's a legal issue involving painful "moral struggle" on the part of those who consider it.

I say, if you're against abortion, don't have one; similarly, if you're against gay marriage, don't marry a homosexual. At this point, our country is going to hell in a handbasket, anyway.

As for the economy, look for Obama to change his mind yet again. He'll try to do what is necessary to prevent a "free fall." The health care reform is either doomed to failure or the country is indeed headed for disaster.

Apollo Stands For Reason

The voice of reason truly gets lost in the crowd. The philosopher says that even the virtuoso's violin will not be heard in a place that dwarfs it, so to speak. One must find a way to be heard--alas, the extremists do this with violence. Mr. Creamer's recent remarks on the Huffington Post neglect to mention the "one thing": The extremists hate us for what we do. Yes, they hate us for "torturing" their people. I would too. But they really hate us--and I would too--for our trespassing on their property, so to speak. No one, except maybe Pat Buchanan, and a few others, seems to be addressing this issue. I might add here, that if we were to liberate ourselves from the admitted "addiction to oil," this alone could reduce to the need to "trespass." And the less we thus disrespect others, the less likely they will be to use violence against us. I think we would do well to do right by our friends and allies. I also think it is obvious but unheeded, still quite neglected--the fact, THE FACT...that our military presence in certain places around the globe is breeding more extremists than anything else, by far. So, I repeat, let's do something about our addiction to foreign oil; let's go to Oil Addicted Anonymous. Let's do something.
