I am with you on the universal healthcare. Personally I don't feel it is the federal government's job to be involved in the insurance business (I am totally against Medicare). Professionally I fear it. Every aspect of healthcare would be controlled by the government, profits would disappear, people would leave the profession in droves, people would die from want of care. While our system is by no means perfect every person can now get some level of healthcare. With a single payer system everyone would have the same, poor level of care, except the rich who could still get high level care.

If is kind of depressing. While places like Great Britain are moving away from government controlled healthcare we are moving toward it. ARGH!
