Excellent post!
Racism is NOT the issue. If Barack were a conservative America loving guy, who was experienced in govt as a governor, or had been around longer in the Senate,or some other position of significance, I'd vote for him!
If he were a Condi, Clearance Thomas, Collin Powell, people would be excited about voting for them! But Barack is a naive, inexperienced arrogant America basher. Why would anyone vote for him????

But of course, wil
leftists will vote for him just because he's black, not because he has anything to offer the country. That is wrong!
I would never vote for someone because they are white!

None of us would Sheila
but the leftists in their higher corridors can walk in their pristine gated neighborhoods and lecture us about immigration, send their kids to private ivy prep schools and lecture us about vouchers, fly in their private jets wearing their designer recycled clothing and lecture us about SUVs and Walmart, hang out in their exclusive elite circles and lecture us about inclusiveness and complain to their elite European friends about the ignorant scum of middle America and its inherent racism....They totally believe they are of a higher plane of people and we the ignorant ought to want them to lead us because they are so intelligent.....That article in Slate I link just drips with disdain for average racist unenlightened Americans.

Cons show respect by talking to and regarding ALL people the same way. We have the same standards for everyone. This is more respectful than the soft bigotry of low expectations as W has mentioned several times.

Racist?
Now, just because the dem's have a black candidate I'm a racist if I don't vote for him?
I will admit that I have never voted for a black candidate but there has never been a black candidate in any election in which I have voted that wasn't a democrat.
There you have it. My real prejudice is toward democrats not minorities. Actually, to put a finer point on it, I don't vote for socialists regardless of party.
Anybody got a label for that?

Racist Anti-Women Gun Clutchers
I have voted for Jesse Jackson (as a dem) and Alan Keyes (as a rep) and I resent the racist remarks as much as I resented Senator Clinton calling women who didn't vote for her sell-outs and anti-women.
On my democratic mother's favorite program "Meet the Press" today Brokaw and his cohorts lamented that the 13% who is undecided is only in that state because they don't really know Obama. They believe that when they hear about his hard childhood and abandonment by his father their fears will be resolved in a rush of emotional clarity and they will rush to the polls to cast their votes for savior Obama. (I seem to remember republicans being described as lemmings with no will of their own and easily swayed by rhetoric and emotions)
So be prepared my racist friends, McCain has no chance against the flood of truth that will come out of Denver!!!

I Have Voted for Black Candidates
In the Mississippi Delta, it is almost impossible not to. Plus there are many fine, Republican Blacks who are making a difference at the local level here.
But Obama is not a good candidate. He is nothing more than an inexperienced product of the Chicago Dumbocrap political machine. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher.
His VP selection (Joe Bide-Your-Time) proves what he is even more.

I agree with your conclusion that Obama's slump, and why I knew since late 2006 that he, or any Dem, would lose is not racism. Its that Americans don't elect known leftists due to their weakness on defense, proven failed econ policies that they still trot out and their hostility to traditional American values.
