Reframing the Debate

Please see my recent reply. I do think we need to frame(reframe) the debate, that way we can refer back to a common set of objectives when discussing different tax systems.

Also, rather than make a case for the significance of all objectives in each reply, why not make a case for each disagreement in its own post with the goal of (1) agreeing that it should be considered in a tax system, (2) agreeing that it is not important, or (3) agreeing to disagree?

For instance, privacy... I can argue that our current system is intrusive on all taxpayers (individuals and businesses) and that the FairTax cuts the intrusiveness by 90% (all individuals + 50+% of businesses). I can also get into more detail about the specific info that the taxing agency will require (i.e. not transactional info) but we can save this debate for its own post.

I think I am taking a short vacation from blogging. So any response on my end may be a few days in coming.

I will respond, I just may not do so right away.

Of course, if this vacation goes as the last one did, you may get a response tomorrow. Have to see how well I can stick with the planned vacation.
