Success in Iraq!

they can afford

to report some good news for a day.

The MSM will continue to do as much damage to the President as they can.

Watch them treat the Democrat takeover [of Congress] in Jan. like the second coming.

They will love the investigations of Bush and the administration, this will fit into their view of Bush & co.

These fools ar going to "revisit" the detainee policy again.

The Democrats don't care about the safety of the American people they just want to score points against Bush.

Good work as always, and Happy New Year to you and yours.

I guess somethings cannot be avoided

They may have to report it, but let's see how long it is before it is replaced by the continuing "quagmire" and "bloodbath" stories.

And Happy New Year Sheila!

Well said, Sheila

Having recently reviewed the negative MSM on the impending hanging of Saddam Hussein, you are absolutely one-hundred percent on target.

Good post.

Someone needs to stand up for Bush! Thanks for pointing this victory out.

Bush even gets criticized on Iraq from beyond the grave. I'm refering to Woodward's tapes of President Ford.

Jevica

Thanks for checking in! I'm afraid your right...

JDComments

Thanks for checking in and commenting! Well said!

trv

Thanks for stopping by, and commenting!

I enjoyed your detailed post on the MSM! Always good to hear from you!

Sandra

Can you believe Woodward? Does anyone care about anything he has to say???? What a joke...

Thanks for checking in and commenting, Sis!

Steech

Yes, it is a shame...you are right. Thanks for commenting.

The new MSM line

I'm already seeing the new MSM theme. Every bombing is now termed "post execution violence." That fool Bush has done it again!!

And not that I've looked real hard, but does anyone have quotes from Democrats not named Lieberman on Saddam's demise? Are they in any position at all to say this was a necessary, if not good thing to have happened?

Scatbug

New MSM line..."post execution violence"...seems they will spin it in an anti-Bush mode, no matter what... "does anyone have quotes from Democrats not named Lieberman on Saddam's demise"? Don't think so...great points as usual...thanks for commenting!

Swift Justice

Imagine what it would be like if our justice system was a swift to carry out executions, rather than inmates rotting on death row. The crime rate would drop like a rock.

Douglas V. Gibbs

What a novel idea!...Swift justice...as long as there is an ACLU, and liberal lawyers and judges it will never happen...

Great comment, thanks for checking in!

Swift Justice

Would really be nice, but you are right, it will never happen.

Maggie

Maybe it's time to put liberal lawyers and the ACLU on trial!

Good to hear from you!

The only comments from

Dems that I have heard, are all negative. They can't acknowledge for one minute that getting rid of a terrible murderous dictator is a good thing.

If Clinton were in office they would be celebrating! Remember how proud they were when Melosovich (?) was on trial?

Sandra

You're right, if it were a dem in the White House they would be falling all over each other talking about how great it is to be rid of the thug...

There's never going to be a good thing happen as long as Bush is in office because he's an illegitimate president in their mind. They will keep pounding until the day he leaves office...

Sandra, BTW

Happy New Year!

Can you believe tomorrow it's 2007, and the dems are in the majority?...It may be a scary year...

At least a murdering thug who harbored terrorists is off the "to do-in" list! It's a better day in the world as a result!

Sandra

Milosevich was on trial in an international tribunal at the Hague. His trial (had he lived) would have dragged on for years (it had already dragged on longer than Saddam's). It was a farce. He would have ended up with a life sentence years later. Milosevich cheated life imprisonment by dying.

Saddam, on the other hand, was tried in the court of a single nation-state (and that's never good t.i.c.). Saddam's trial was controlled and sane (also not good).

mgraves

You are right...interesting points...

the Left does not like justice being served on dictators...they seem to prefer long drawn out trials, rather than swift justice...

Happy New Year! Great to hear from you!

Miles to go before I sleep

Sheila - thanks for your encouraging comments on my "Mold Stinks" blog.

And a Happy New Year to you and all of yours as well.

There are a few things that get under my skin.

The so-called mainstream media is one -- that oh-so-proper citadel seemingly protecting the interests of real Americans. The so-called "leftists" or "liberals" or whatever they're calling themselves these days usually make my skin crawl with thoughts of eventually having to wear a burka and fearing every moment I'll be stoned to death for thinking. The idea of my daughter or granddaughters being told they must not think or make a face or disagree with some male just because he's a male also fills me with revulsion. Is this where we're headed? I don't think so.

Merely thinking of the ACLU makes my skin crawl and wish for a shower.

Illegal immigration and illegal immigrants get under my skin. And please, before the criticisms from any of your many admirers begin, notice the word "illegal."

The thought of child sexual predators do more than make my skin crawl. If a brain can "crawl," mine does. These predators are irreparably damaged beings that belong nowhere except in prison. ONE strike and you're out.

I have been ambivalent the last couple of years about the death penalty. Before that, there was no such ambivalence: murderers and child sexual predators deserved the death penalty. Period. But I saw no joy, I felt no elation, at the thought or the sight of that noose being placed around Hussein's neck. And, please, here, too, if the criticisms must arise from any of your readers, believe that I also felt no sympathy. My feeling was best described as nothing. Redemption is a hard concept to grasp in connection with vermin, but I am not sinless, either.

The mess that was made with regard to the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan is still that: a mess. It is still confusing, and only people with little use for prescription drugs can make any sense of it. If you've read my blog about that mess, and if you know how long and how hard I fought against it, please believe that I do not think the incoming Democrats are going to be able to do anything that will benefit anyone in the long run, save perhaps insurance companies.

Democrats will, perhaps in ignorance, stymie competition and free trade and in the end will not, repeat not, benefit senior citizens.

I have my work cut out for me. I have recently written letters to the editor about the Medicare PDP problem, one about illegal immigration (with one about that also going to my Senators), and have before me some research re Child Safety Protection laws, etc.

We have a lot of yelling to do. My computer has held up so far; wish me luck on its continuing to do so. Sorry this was so long.

So Frigglesnitz...

..now what do you really think?

MSM And Saddam

To all of you who cheer's at the death of the "GREATEST" man in Iraqi history, I say, "NUTS TO YOU". Saddam was and is still the hero of the Iraqi people and the whole Middle East.

Frigglesnitz

I can tell you have a real concern about the issues mentioned, and I know as a concerned citizen you will fight for the causes you believe in, as we all should. Keep up the fight!

As to Saddam, the only punishment deserving of a murderous dictator is death. If you choose to kill and murder and torture human beings, you should be put to death. I would have preferred he'd been killed in battle, istead of cowering in a hole, but this is the second best...a trial, and a sentence, carried out swiftly.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

82nd Airborne Div

You're kidding...right?...:)

May Saddam Rot

He has met his maker..and I have a sneeky suspicion he's going to be paying for his crimes for a LOOOOOONNNNGGGGGG time to come.

Prysson

Yup, think you're right...

I'm afraid with the cut and run dems taking over the House and Senate, the picture in Iraq could get scarrier, and if they win in 08, any attempt to curtail terrorism will be over...

Hey, Sheila

Check out http://outsideofthebox.townhall.com
for some interesting commentary on the on the conservative media and how it has hurt the GOP.

Sandra

Checking it out right now. Thanks

Hey Sandra!

Interesting stuff! I agree the conservative media got us where we are today with the dems back in power, due to their Bush bashing for so long...it's a real shame because we will pay the price...

It's interesting

that his analysis is pretty much the same as what we've talked about.

Maybe now that the Dems are in control, the conservative media will go back to bashing them and not Bush.

I won't hold my breath, though.

Sandra

Yeah, it's amazing...someone made the point on Rush today, did you hear his response?

Had Saddam been executed in a

professional manner and at a time not certain to send a lynching-like message to the Sunnis of Iraq I would agree with you. But alas, the execution seems to be done in a way which is intended even to intimidate the Sunnis. By choosing a day (probably illegally, I might add) that was part of a Sunni holiday but not a Shiite one, the Iraqi government has shown that they are not our partners but are indeed our enemies in a quest for a stable, democratic, and inclusive Iraq.

Had they kept Saddam alive for another week, things would have been far better. Instead they chose to mark the day that the Sunnies begin a holiday (but the Shiites wait another day) to perform this at in what is another example of the government's blatent sectarian agenda.

I am all for staying and trying to get a stable Iraq but we cannot succeed when the current government is not our partner in the process.

Sandra: Right, because

The Big Businesses (GE, etc) that own the MSM are big leftists, and the Liberals are the pro-business types.

Or maybe the media is fundamentally conservative and just is lamentable for its yellow tendencies...

einhverfr

You are so right about the Saddam lynching. Krauthammer summed up as much this week.

einhverfr

Thanks for stopping by! It wasn't the best scenario, and it would have been done right if we had been in charge, but unfortunately, it was not our call.

einhverfr

In regards to the MSM, the theory Sandra was referring to is that the conservative talk shows and blogs(conservative media) did the republicans in this last election, when they joinned in with the MSM Bush bashing...

Mike

I didn't like how it happened either...unfortunately things don't always go the way we want when dealing with ancient rivalries...

Mike and einhverfr:

It doesn't matter when or how Saddam was executed. Someone would have had a problem with it.

Like Tony Snow said, we seem to be more concerned about the last few minutes of Saddam's life, versus the fact that a murderous, inhumane, sadistic tyrant met his justice.

How often

does some liberal tell you the Iraqi people had it better under Saddam [no insurgents, etc.] but then tell them "so you want Saddam back in power" and they tell you 'don't be foolish." They can't have it both ways.

An e-mail I can agree with...

The e-mail below was sent by a friend (I removed his name)...The asterisk (*) note at the bottom
I found heartwarming in that somebody out there
knows where the problems lie (lie: as in the noun and the intransitive verb!)

I wish we Americans had as much backbone!!! This is fabulous~
Excerpts from an on going debate in Australia.

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television.

"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."

"However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multi-cultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle."

"This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom"

"We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society ... Learn the language!"

"Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture."

"We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us."

"If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others.

"This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'."

"If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens* will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths!

*If we could only get the idiots in Michigan, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, and California to get rid of their Godless politicians maybe the rest of the country will follow...these idiots keep voting for Democrats and keep complaining why nothing is changing. The Democratic Party died with Harry Truman! Ted Kennedy has made Massachusetts a government of the government, by the government and for the government...and Nancy Pelosi has done the same to California.
Backbone? All these so called Democrats are spineless! Where's Harry when you need him? Old Harry would have already dropped the "big one" in the middle of Iran!

If you agree please SEND THIS TO EVERYBODY YOU KNOW

Norm

If only...the Left has literally removed the backbone from this country. This is not the country it once was, and I'm afraid never will be again, unless by God's will.
