The Israeli comes into the shop with a dead parrot, and the store-owner goes to absurd lengths to deny that what is in front of his eyes is, in fact, a dead parrot. Such is the task set before every Israeli diplomat since ... oh, say, 1948.

You're right. The world truly is upside down when national leaders can look at a map of the Middle East, look at the history of the Jewish state, and conclude that Israel is an aggressor.
